Why do I like salty foods so much?

I am a salt addict. I have a salt stash in my car, purse, bedroom, office. I am a savoury kind of person. Always go for cheese, pizza, mash ect. instead of chocolate or ice cream. I guess your ethir a sweet or savoury person... and your a savoury person!

While salt isn’t addictive in the true sense of the word, there is evidence that a taste for salty foods can certainly develop.

When a person eats a diet high in salt, the taste buds get used to this and then only begin to react to high salt levels. Foods with a low salt content can start to taste bland.

i admire pink meat Scratchings with a tankard or 2 of ale!! yet final night, being a lazy sod i bought a waiting made meal of Bangers and Mash from Tescos and found the mash very almost too salty to consume!:-(

Because salt is important in our bodily functions.

Long ago, salt was not as available and accessible as it is today, so we evolved to like salty flavors. But today, its not as relevant because salt is so widespread and overused

can't blame you, nearly everyone loves salty foods...because of the strong flavors...i personally love to have a fair percentage of salt on my fries...that's what makes food taste good...
even in normal soup, we add salt to enhance the flavor! so its hard to say that no one likes salt! =)

Salt adds savour to most things. It is natural to like it.
But you can eductae your palate
In the meantime use a low sodium salt substitute...then you get ther taste without the damage to your health
