That type of question is always hard to answer as it is certainly a subjective query. Humans define the term according to how we experience our surroundings and senses. However, we can't even be sure one person experiences any given feeling the same as another.
Many people see Earth itself as an organism complete with systems, subsystems, and cycles, the so-called Gaia hypothesis. Some even attribute consciousness to not only people and animals, but trees and even the entire planet itself.
If you cut off a limb of a tree, part or all of the tree experiences a stress or shock. However, trees do not have a central nervous system or brain, and since certain parts of the brain deal with consciousness, trees cannot translate those experiences in the same manner as humans.
So, trees do not feel pain as humans have defined it. However, it is not impossible that they suffer in a different manner. Are trees aware of pain? The only way to tell would be to come back as a tree in a different life.

Trees do not have brains or nerve endings like animals. They react to water -too little or too much, and to sunlight also too little or too much. But they do not feel pain. Trees have systems to bring nutrients from their roots to their leaves, and if these are cut or damages, the tree's growth is affected; IE; leaves turn brown, or a branch withers. BUT this is not from pain.
In fact, here is a nice thought, when we burn a tree branch in the fireplace, it is giving back all of the sunlight and warmth that it got during its life.

Yes, I watched a show on Discovery once and they had these intense microphones that they put up to these trees and when someone carved in them or cut them down, they could hear sounds that sounded like trees screaming. All I know is trees are living things and I believe they feel pain!

Quite possibly. A tree might hurt when its branches are cut- but what if it actually enjoys having its branches trimmed?
This is similar to a question I am preparing to ask right now- thank you because you reminded me of it. I wonder if vegetables feel pain. I know it might sound silly...but you probably don't think it's silly, since you asked about trees.
