Then what kind of fun would we have on here? If everybody were a "goody-two-shoes" it would be very boring.

You are right, things like idiot, moron and the like are in fact "like totally immature and innapropriate forms of dialogue, OMG!"
However, on the flip side of this, is why don't we use spell check. Why do we continue to use the very worn out phrase "go there". Is there nothing more mature and appropriate to say here. For instance, one might have more been more mature and colloquial if one had phrased the question to say:
I think we could possibly make our points more clearly if we refrained from using inappropriate dialogue such as 'idiot' and 'stupid moron' when responding to questions on this forum.
and, if you really felt the need for the second sentance it could have read:
The aforementioned words simply make one's reply seem sophomoric in nature, and readers are not likely to take the responses seriously.
"Let he who is without verb, cast the first pronoun"

I like the "star" idea, because questions get pushed off the first page and are largely lost. I liked being able to rate a question, also, it served as a poll. Since the changes, there's no way to express anonymous approval or disapproval of a question. The only option to show disapproval is boycott or "report a question", which is hardly appropriate in many cases.
Questions containing variations of the phrase "why do all..." bother me, also.
[I wonder if Y!A could just redirect questions such as, "Could I be pregnant?", to the resolved questions page,
that would be nice.:-{ ]
Edit: Oh well, we can't stop the "totally immature" answerers.

Well... because insults are Fun. And make me feel good. And sarcasm is fun. And makes me feel good. And because i love kittens and puppies. So there. The mere fact that you have asked this question means we should continue to answer insulting questions. Cuz this question insulted my intelligence. If people didnt want to reply to stupid questions they wouldn't, but obviously they get something out of it. If you yourself is so uptight you cannot deal with people being weird on the internet of all places, please never go to a circus. They have these things called clowns, and you should SEE the stuff they do. Completely crazy and uncalled for. There was this clown on TV, and you wouldnt believe it, HE THREW PIES IN PEOPLES FACES! Lets ban that stuff first. Then you can crusade the internet.

Some of these moronic questions scream for sarcastic answers, so that's what they get. Don't read those if you don't want to hear it. Some are very funny--not all answers have to be serious. In fact, I laugh at the answers that spend so much time explaining a simple concept. I like the silly ones better--I'm here to be entertained.

I so agree with you, but you know what do you expect sometimes I mean because sometimes people are real jerks, and this is why sometimes I do not like dealing with them. But these people like it are not are the world we live in so deal with it or not. But unfortunately most people are immature, insensitive, and mean, and like I said deal with it or not; and of course these terms are hurtful, and offensive but it is part of life, and everyone has pain. It's just some people are better at hiding it then others.

It is human nature to try to either get the better of someone who has inflamed our sense of self respect, or else it is a matter of honor to bet them at their own game. We all do it, even when We don't think We are.

Cathy, we are opinionated people that all to often want to show how intellegent, and in some cases, how unintellegent we are. Answers provides us with a forum to air our skills, so to speak.

I think insulting language should be used with those irritating people who can't get off your back otherwise it's always good to be calm.

We live in a democratic society and people are entitled to their opinions. We're not always going to agree with everything we see, hear or read. If it bother's you, don't lend into it.
