well recently i have got sort of paranoid that i have bad breath but i'm not sure if i actually do or not. someone mentioned that i did but i don't really like that person and he doesnt really like me so i don't know if he just said that to put me down or if he really meant it. i just wanted to ask.....like is it normal after you eat to have the taste of food still in your mouth and also a kind of sour taste...or is this a sign that i have bad breath? i try to drink water after i eat but not sure if it does anything.....

i read somewhere that to smell your own breath you had to lick the back of your hand wait for about 10 secs for the saliva to dry and then smell it but yeah some food can leave a taste in your mouth and some foods are smelly like garlic especially if the other person has not had it they will be able to smell it on you if ur bothered by their comment try taking some mints around with you good luck hope this helps

i can see your concern. i have the same thing. maybe that guy wanted to put you down. but i also have a weird taste in my mouth, a kind of sour taste as you describe it. i also have the taste of the food i ate in my mouth also. the best thing to do to check if you have bad breath is to lick ur wrist area (where the veins are) and if there is a foul smell (not the normal saliva smell), then yes you do have bad breath. also, after eating, have a breath mint or some gum, that normally makes my breath nicer. hope thats of some help to you.

good luck

You should try smelling your own breath...like by cupping your hand over your mouth and breathing...If that doesn't work just keep mints/gum in your purse as well as a travel toothbrush and paste to brush after every meal, so you won't have to worry about your breath smelling. It's also good dental hygeine!!

use a good tooth paste twice daily or after food use a mouthwash, visit your dentist to make sure there is nothing going on with your gums or teeth that may contribute to a bad odour. if you have recently had a cold this can also give you bad breath if you sinuses are blocked.

Cup your hands over your mouth and blow, see if it smells bad to you, if it does then that is what others are smelling as well. Keep certs or a roll of mints with you at all times so in social situations you can just pop one and not worry about it.

The best way to prevent bad breath is to use a mouth wash everyday and chew chewing gum after your meals.I find that helps me.

Brush after every meal & avoid soft drinks.

Everyone has bad breath sometimes. You just want to minimize it.

It certainly is not worth giving up stinky and delicious things such as coffee, garlic, and onions.

You will know if, somebody that usually looks at you when you talk. All of a sudden stops. Maybe you should take toothpaste and toothbrush with you. So you canbrush when you feel it is nessicary.

A little on the gross side but it will work: Lick your hand and then smell the spot you licked. Does it smell bad? There's your answer.
