A good trip? From LAX, take EVA Air, book their Deluxe Class Seats or Elite Class seats, these are business class seats with economy class food, not quite business class leg room. Cost is about USD 200 more than economy class fare. Airfare USD 1,000 to USD 1,300 round trip from Los Angeles.
Hotel: This is very subjective. The area along Sukhumvit is very noisy and smoggy. For the price of staying along there or in Silom or Chinatown or Pratunam. I usually stay on Ratchadapisek Road just north of downtown and it is along the MRT Subway line. There are a number good hotels, Grand Mercure Fortune Hotel and the Emerald Hotel are both 4 star hotels and are conveniently located near Subway stations. Both hotels start at USD 55 per night including a buffet breakfast.
There is the Swissotel Concorde across from Emerald for USD 80 per night and a Marriot that starts at UsD 65 per night. But, the Marriot is a taxi cab ride from the Subway.
I have stayed at both the Grand Mercure Fortune Hotel and The Emerald Hotel. They are about equal. For men, the Emerald Hotel is near the massage parlors and in general the Grand Mercure Fortune Hotel is connected to the Fortune Mall, which has 3 floors of shops, restaurants and a market. You can get most anything in the mall, computers, cell phones, clothing, pizza, coffee, japanese food, shoes, etc. It is also an office complex.
So airfare and hotel would run USD 1300 to 1700 total.
If you went economy class on China Airlines or EVA Air from around USD 1075 to 1250
Check www.asiarooms.com for the best rates. You can check them against www.kayak.com or www.sidestep.com Where you can also check for airfare.
With the Deluxe Class or Elite class seats you get 125 percent of the mileage on Evergreen Air mileage club. So, the extra uSD 200 bucks is somewhat worth it.
Oh, yeah, I have also stayed at Amari Atrium Hotel and the Plaza Athenee' Meridien Hotel. Amari Atrium Hotel is too far away from the beaten path and you have to take a taxi everywhere and the rooms are not worth it. The Plaza Athenee' Le Meriden Hotel, a wonderful hotel but, at USD 129 per night it is bit expensive. It's rated 6 stars under the Asian rating system. It's on Wireless Road just south of Sukhumvit.
There is a Sheraton Grande on Sukhumvit that starts at USD 212 per night or Westin Grande at USD 195 per night . Or the Shangri-la Hotel at USD 167 per night or Peninsula Hotel at USD 227 or Oriental Hotel at USD 332 per night.
You can find a clean hotel like Nana Hotel for USD 30 per night.

Where are you from? Fares and cost varies from country to country. Can be cheap if you are staying in SE Asia, or expensive if you are in the US.
