i would go with a 3 farad cap. a 2 would work, but i dont know how well. my rule of thumb is 1 farad for every 1,000 watts.

it will work but not as good the ratio is usually 1000 watts for every 1 farad

No, for that kind of peak rating (I'm assuming you're not quoting RMS) I'd say 5 Farad to be safe.

However, I'd ONLY recommend considering a cap if you have first upgraded wiring 'big three' to 1/0 gauge. Big 3 is battery-to-alternator, battery-to-ground, engine-to-ground. Most of the time if you perform this upgrade properly you can kiss the cap goodbye.
