I think we are talking about 4 very different causes of death!

First of all, I don´think you can die of bulimia, unless this leads to excess vomiting which would then lead to ulceras in your esophagous, stomach and/or upper GI. If ulceras do not occur, at the most you´ll put on weight or end up with nutrition imbalances, but I can´t see how this will cause death!

Alcoholism normally leads to chirrosis and liver failure. This is what is more likely to cause death. The consequence will be blood "poisoning", as the liver is no longer able to detox the organism. This seems to me a pretty unpleasant way to die!. An alternative cause of death linked to alcholism is hearth failure /collapse following what is called "aethilic coma". Also not very pleasant! Finally, drunk people left unconcious in the street can also freeze to death, because of vasodilation and loos of body heath. In this case they probably won´t realize they are dying.

Anorexia leads to other unpleasant effects on the body, including wearing out of the muscular mass (both the motorial and the organ-related muscle), which would ultimately cause collapse of the hearth. Alternatively, the stomach can also collapse or, in case vomiting is involved, become ulcerated. Not very nice!

Overdose is a very vague term and it depends on what people have overdosed on.

Symptoms of drug overdose occur in various forms:
Exaggerated form of normal action (e.g., sleepiness on antiepileptics, hypoglycemia on insulin)
Other effects due to chemical properties of the medication (e.g., metabolic acidosis in aspirin, liver failure due to paracetamol)
Non-specific symptoms due to central nervous system irritation (e.g., confusion, vertigo, nausea, vomiting, delirium, seizures).

Hope this satisfy your curiosity - but don´t get any ideas!

Um...yes?

Your body's systems are slowly shutting down. However, the pain might not be crippling, since one woman in the US walked into a hospital for another matter (related to her anorexia, though), and had no discernable lifesigns! She was immediately admitted on an Emergency basis, and essentially force fed until she'd put on over 20 pounds. She was later told that had she waited as little as a few more hours to come in, she likely would not have survived.

Alcohol affects the liver and eventually the liver cannot function and there is an excess of urea which leads to too much glutamate which leads to psychosis (Korsakoff's psychosis) which is a particularly nasty way to go. Anorexia, eventually you lost not only "body fat" but fat around the vital organs. The kidneys then can no longer stay where they are meant to be and this means that the ureter which travels from the kidney to the bladder gets "kinked" so that it can no longer transport urine to the bladder. Horrible really.

Can you imagine how much pain it would be for your friends and family!
All of those mentioned are very painful, they cause organ failure, not a nice way to go!

Sorry for stating the obvious, but how can you be in pain if you're dead! Do you mean before death would it be bad - guess so, no worse than lots of other things though.

Death would release you from pain. A friend of my fathers who was in his sixties died from alcoholic poisoning. He was skin and bone at the time he mercifully passed away. He had shed several stones in weight and was in agony, having become immune to pain killing medication which was restricted due to his frailty.

If you died you wouldn't feel anything. However if you mean is it painful just before you die then in the case of alcoholism it can be very painful before you slip into a coma and die of multiple organ failure.

alcoholism dehydrates your body and also causes damage to your liver and kidneys. anorexia basically malnourishes/over exerts your body and bulemia changes the pH of your body as well as dehyrating you further....my guess, yeah, at least a little. i wouldn't guess it would be as painful as dying of many other things, but i'm sure you would have some pain.
