from my previous question about if holyspirit already existed during Jesus time, most of you approved yes he did exist.
http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;...

then the another comforter is someone that is not Yet known by the people:
John 14:16
And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever;

this is an evidence that Jesus here is talking about someone different than the holyspirit that many christians have been taught it's. Jesus here is talking about someone new different than the holyspirit, someone that the world still don't know him yet:

look carefuly at this verse, the words of Jesus:
John 16:7
Nevertheless I tell you the truth; It is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send him unto you.

The Holy Spirit was with Jesus, but no other humans. Under the old covenant, the Holy Spirit only came upon prophets, and only for a time. Under the new covenant, the Holy Spirit would be available to everyone who believed for the first time.

It seem clear from the context that Jesus is talking about the Holy Spirit because he calls the comforter the "Spirit of Truth" who will "live in you". He cannot be talking about a human prophet, such as Muhammad, because another person cannot "live withing you". It is impossible.

-----------------------------------------
...It is quite obvious from the four texts quoted that Comforter, Holy Spirit, and Spirit of Truth are interchangeable terms and that Jesus is speaking of the same person in each instance. The one obvious fact that emerges is that the Comforter is a spirit. (The fact that Jesus always speaks of the Spirit in the masculine gender in no way suggests that the Comforter must be a man as some of the publications in the Bibliography suggest. God himself is always spoken of in both the Bible and the Qur'an in the masculine gender and God is spirit - John 4.24. In the same way Jesus always speaks of the Comforter as a spirit and not as a man).

If we apply sound exegesis to John 14.16-17 we shall discover no less than eight reasons why the Comforter cannot possibly be Muhammad....

What Jesus is talking about here is experiencing the Holy Spirit in a new way. On the day of Pentecost (Acts2nd chap.) The Holy Spirit came and took up residence in and with the spirits of the Apostles. This enabled them to enjoy a communion that hadn't been experienced since the Garden.

As you are not of The True Christian Faith what are you doing reading The Bible of The Faith?... That is not intended for you and there is nothing in there for you... If you do happen to be serious about learning what might one day be there for you you shouold be studying with one of The Faith... unless you are open to the leading ofThe Holy Spirit you will never find an answer to your questions.... but I will tell you that you have incorectly read... The comforter was and is The Holy Spirit who is God.... who, before the sacrifice of Christ and the establishing of the Church on Earth, did not indwell mortals to stay with them but only came and went as there was need..... Now, since the Sacrifice of Christ, The Holy Spirit comes to act as The Comforter and indwells the body of the True Christian. This indwelling occures at the instant of Salvation and The Holy Spirit indwells the individual untill they enter Heaven.

The Holy Spirit existed since the beginning along with the Father and the Son. While Jesus was in the world He was the comforter, He sent the Holy Spirit after His death. There is no other comforter.

He existed and was manifested in nature as always, but had not dwelt within flesh other than the sinless Yeshua. When Christ entered glory, he presented himself as the perfect sacrifice, thereby clearing up the little matter of Adam's sin. He then sent the Holy Spirit to fill His church as the righteous body cleansed from unrighteousness. [behold, our comforter]

In one of these meetings as he was eating a meal with them, he told them, "Do not leave Jerusalem until the Father sends you what he promised. Remember, I have told you about this before. John baptized with water, but in just a few days you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit."
Acts 1:4,5

“All this I have spoken while still with you. But the Counselor [comforter], the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you.
John 14:25,26

"come unto you" -- I never got the impression that the Holy Spirit was directly working in humans before Acts 2. He was always around of course and still working all over, but not IN people. Jesus was the only one that had the Holy Spirit working in him and that was why He was able to do all His miracles.

Jesus is talking about himself in both instances. He came and healed and comforted. The world rejected HIM because it did not know him. There is no mysterious conforter. It is him and him alone, both as the Son and the Holy Ghost. The fact that Jesus is both can be gleaned from his prayers in the Garden of Gethsemane. (Matthew 26:39)
"...let this cup pass from Me..."

The reason it says "another comforter" is because Jesus is talking and He isnt talking about himself, he is talking about the Holy Spirit.

I don't believe that it existed until after Jesus died so I think that is what he is talking about or it could be him as a spirit. He had to go away physically but not spiritually. This is just my opinion though.

he is talking about the holy spirit, jesus was talking about how the holy spirit would dwell in men, the holy spirit did not dwell in men, christ had to pay the price for mens sins and once we accept him in our lives the holy spirit will come to dwell in us. John 14:26 tells exactly who the comforter is,, it is the holy spirit no confusion there.
