...Before Christ: I was secure in my surroundings and the people who loved me. There were problems, like divorce and mental illness. My dad was a great provider, and remarried. My stepmother and I fought and fought. I was a churchgoer as a young teen, but stopped going after while, and so did my friends – alcohol, cigarettes, and marijuana destroyed the church youth group. My dad didn't really know what to do with me.
…After high school, many things started to change, and I could not stop them. My friends left for college, and family members were moving away. I felt I had nothing to hold on to, nothing I could trust in, nothing that would stay around forever; I also was not sure about right and wrong, so I started to read the Bible. It was just what I was looking for, and I tried to do in my strength – a miserable failure.
...When I met Christ…On the 1st of January in 1978, I went back to the church I attended as a young teen. The Pastor spoke of happiness and where that could be found. He spoke to where I was hurting. I talked to him after the service and I told him I was not happy - and he asked me if I was Christian. We talked for a while, and that afternoon, I prayed asked Jesus to save me and to make me the kind of person He wanted me to be.
...After Christ: I am secure in Christ and in God's promises. Jesus has promised never to leave me or forsake me. He empowers me to live right, and shows Himself strong in my weaknesses (I have several physical problems – diabetes, ½ blind, bi-polar). His word is my guidebook for life, and He promised me eternal life in Christ, as a free gift, so I am Heaven-bound.
...I married a fantastic Christian lady and we have 3 great kids, all teens now. I reconciled with my parents (my dad, mom, and stepmother), saw my dad recommit his life to Christ, and had many years of sweet fellowship with Dad before he died. My brother and his family are solid believers in Christ, too.
...Real life to me now is to know Jesus and live for Him each, by His grace. And if I die, I go to be with Him - there is no better deal on Earth.

It's different for everyone. Me personally, God sent people to talk to me about him (and I don't mean Johovah's witnesses). I mean people in my life that we previous non-believers. You may think that I was just jumping the bandwagon, but that isn't the case. I had actually been searching for an answer internally in my mind and heart. I didn't pursue my search for an answer to the "Does God exist?" question externally, by that I mean I didn't talk to people about it. Shortly after my quest for answers began, two of my best freinds (one in Chicago, and one in Texas: they didn't know each other) started calling me out of the blue to talk to me about God. Then a guy was hired where I worked (in Alabama) who was a believer that started talking to me about God. It seem every person I was meeting was giving me information about God, eventhough I didn't solicite the information and frankly didn't want their input about Him.
I had always thought in a logical science since and didn't want to accept God as a factor in my life. I believed in evolution, the big bang, etc, and wanted proof that there was a higher power.
So I started going to sermons at different churches (so noone could zero in on me and target me for membership). For some reason, it just seemed every sermon was directed at me.
Then one day I starting actually praying for an answer and my heart was softened and filled with His love. At that moment, I knew there was a God.
I immediately got over the fact that I needed proof of God and realized that you can't have creation without a Creator. Even with evolution and big bang theory, there had to be something that created the first algae, or the gravity/matter, etc. Once I realized that and accepted it, it was not a far leap to believe that God did create the heavens, the earth, and Adam, then Eve in six days and rested on the seventh. In fact, it's the only explanation that makes since.

I remember as a little kid seeing the story of the life of Jesus on TV. I was attracted to this kind man from that moment. When I seen that He died on the cross I fled from the room, jumped into my bed and cried. My mom came in and told me that the story was not over. So out we went to see Jesus resurrected back to life. After that I just always believed, prayed and trusted Him. Except for a few of my teen years where I got off track. Jesus set me back on course. Thank God.

I discovered God when I was 28. I was heavy into drugs and borderline suicide. I then saw a show on TV where this guy claimed that God helps those that ask. So I got down on my knees and prayed. That night Jesus Christ entered my life. My life has skyrocketed in a positive direction ever since. I cant imagine how I lived without him.

our faith comes not from people's "brainwashing", but from God himself. A christian cannot know god, unless the person truly opens up their heart to God, acknowledges that he/she is a sinner in need of forgiveness, and accepts JEsus Christ as lord and SAvior.
Matthew 16:17
And Jesus said to him, "Blessed are you, Simon Barjona, because flesh and blood (humans) did not reveal this to you, but My Father who is in heaven (God).

Ask him in your life. Confess sins. Follow his way. Read Bible daily. Pray without ceasing. Live accordingly. That is how all Christians do it.
