and others who have left Christianity. For many of us it was a bit of a struggle to find our way clear. I'm talking about specifically in R&S where it is sort of a free-for-all. At what point do you think it goes to far?

For instance, I realize that some of my questions can be bizarre. But generally (and I will confess not always) I ask them from a genuine interest to see what the answers would be. (Quite frankly, it's only when I get excessive violations that I totally lose my cool.)

I think I'm usually pretty clear as to what bothers me most. I can understand when people dont believe in God or as the Agnostics stand, "arent sure" and thats fine by me. I can even understand someone wanting to come out from under it in many cases. But what I cant deal with is the amount of double standards many non believers display... they will claim we (Christians) are full of hate and violence in the same sentense that they will say we should be destroyed? Or, they take a situation which Christians of today do not condone, like the Crusades, assume that we DO condone it and wont listen to all the Christians saying we do not.

I think "closed mindedness" is epidemic on all sides. How closed minded does one have to be to think Christians dont believe dinosaurs existed, no matter how many Christians tell them they do?? And I know there are Christians who also display such close mindedness, but this is what crosses the line with me between Atheists and Christians. Believe or dont believe... thats why you have your own mind. But never discount someone elses beliefs, especially when you dont know them.

I will on occasion look through to find a serious question to answer from people regarding religion, it seems that the longer that I am on here the more I find sarcastic comments instead of questions, so I have come to expect it. It's sad that people who don't see eye to eye cannot discuss their beliefs in a mature way, but I still search.

At times. Some people are just pushed around too much and the ,"I can't f*cking take it anymore!" rants appear because of it.
I know that if I am respectful towards Non-Christians,then they in turn can better respect me and my views, regardless of how ridiculous they may seem to them.
I do get irritated when people constantly attack the believers instead of the beliefs, however. When one insults me,their arguments begin to appear weak in my eyes.

Of course it is expected. The way the we handle it is rediculous though. I think Christians should give themselves a time out.

I am always ok with answering even silly questions, as long as you are respectful.

Don't lose your cool, little Mullah. If you ask a dumb question you will get knocked down. Stand tall little fella. You probably left Christianity because someone let you down, hurt your feelings, or may even physically have hurt you. Try to separate Jesus from these people. I left the Church for a time, but not my faith in Christ, because my feelings got hurt. People will let you down and do terrible things to you. Jesus will not my friend.

I think that at least 75% of the questions from atheists on this board are belittling and disrespectful. (Not including this question, sweetie)!

I feel it goes too far when people are mocking my Lord. That, and vulgarity are always my top two peeves!

P.S.
I want to add a third. Racism is another that I cannot abide!

Is it too much to ask for Atheists to show a little respect for other people's beliefs? I'm not Hindu but you dont hear me saying that their Gods are imaginary.

To me, the irreverence is when Christians say that Jesus is G-d. That is blasphemy, and very irreverent to G-d. There is no G-d but G-d. G-d is One.
