I think that the airline did the right thing...I certainly wouldn't have given them a free trip anywhere. They pull anyone off a flight that is disruptive for the safety off all passengers. I would have pulled them off teh flight and refunded the tickets. I can't believe that the parents were irrate...why should everyone else have to be on a late flight or have their saftey compromised by a out of control child. People need to teach their children how to behave. I ahve a 2-1/2 year old...and if he doesn't behave (within reason) he is removed from whatever we are doing.

I agree. Parents need to be in control and obviously these parents were not! I think it's important to keep your children under control. I wouldn't have refunded their ticket either. It wasn't the airline's fault the child couldn't be controlled. The parents had to have known this would be a problem--if they knew their kids well enough!

Another thing to Goober. Airlines give parents priority to get on planes first. This is so they can get settled into their seats. Not only do they get that time there are also 10-15 minutes after everyone has boarded before take of. In total they must have had a half an hour to calm that child and put him/her under control.

I have flown with children and as a child. My most recent trip was with a five year old and a ten month old. I received compliments after the flight because both of my boys were NOT heard through the entire flight. I have been flown with BOTH boys about 4 times since my son (1 yr) has been born. Never have I had a complaint and I ALWAYS receive compliments.

It's not the airline's fault that she couldn't control her child. It's the parents!

That story is unreal! What is it these days with most parents. When my 11 year old was 6, and came home from school saying "so and so did this to me" my first comment to him was, "well, what did you do to him?" Not, Oh my poor baby. Thats just me though I suppose.
So many people in this world have the idea that their children can do "NO WRONG", and even worse is that most people these days cant even take responsibility for their own actions, and continually blame others. Trust me on that one! (Auto accident this past summer.)
I think some of it has to do with the way things are nowadays. Its unfortunate but its becoming a way of life. And in this particular story, they went way above and beyond customer service and refunding them that kind of cash. What losers the parents are to allow their child to act that way, and then think they deserve to get money refunded! Hope they get what they deserve someday! We know who wears the pants in that household.. the CHILD!!! (Also, when I took my oldest to Florida when he was 5, I called the doctors & got a mild sedative for him, to keep him calm. I know some wont agree, but it was our first time on an airplane & in a confined space like that. It helped him remain calm the way there and the way back! They should have thought of that!)

I personnaly do agree with the decision the airline made IF they gave the parents time to talk with thier daughter and get her undercontrol. The parents said however that they were NOT given the chance to do anything with their child. So I also agree with how the paretns are feeling. I do belive over all that there are rules for a reason and they should be obeyed. i understand the air line was just trying to cover their butts cause of their decision, but giving the family extra airline tickets were a lil over board I think , but the choice to reimburse their ticket money was ans ok decision because they did make it to their flight. I think the news porteys more one sided on things so beliveing what they say is crazy in my opinion. Unless I was there, i dont know the real truth, neither do u!

Wow...and they say theyll never fly that airline again! im sure the airline is happy! I dont think they should have given them roundtrip tickets no way no how. I would have been so embaressed for my child behaving that way in public, not blamed it on the airline.I cant imagine them trying to get her in her car seat, they probably get hair pulled out and kicked in the gut. geez.

I love reading people who obviously don't have kids talk about what a bad job the parents are doing. I think the airline handled things very well. The flight was allowed to continue without the disruptions from the child, and the parents were reimbursed for tickets they weren't able to use. Nothing wrong with that.
