I wonder the same thing about unborn babies. I believe we should treat all of God's creation well, even our own unborn. Or, especially our own unborn.

Pets are a symptom of inadequacy. People who have to form relationships with animals are fundamentally unable to deal properly with humans and the wider world they live in.
It is not uncommon for someone to own a fighting dog at the same time as being frightened of spiders!
It is only the fact that this disorder is so widespread that it doesn't get much coverage. There is also the fact that animal ownership is a huge industry.

Pets love you unconditionally. This is why so many care about their pets more than anything else.
People (human beings) can be prejudiced, bigoted, cruel, unkind, and judgmental. Pets are not any of these things. I would rather shower my attention on my cat, who loves me no matter what I do, how I act, what my belief system is, how fat or skinny I am, what color my skin is, or who I prefer to take into my bed. He cheers me up when I am down, entertains me every day, gives me sweetness and attention, and asks very little from me in return.
Why wouldn't I shower him with attention?
I believe animals are much better than many humans. Sure animals can seem cruel, but do they kill for sport, do they put someone down for not agreeing with them, do they rob and murder each other for no reason? No. They kill to eat and to propagate their species, they do not "pick" on someone for being different. Many species of animals can live peacefully in a given area. Humans turn on each other.

we all have different gifts...some peoples gift is empathy for animals...animals are an excellent example of unconditional love, some peoples gift is empathy for the earth and alot of those people are greenies and hippys who would much rather be around a tree and some peoples gift is empathy for humans.
as we are all different sometimes we pick out others differences as mistakes or confusions....and this can go both ways...its easy to understand why a person with the gift of empathy for animals would be a little upset at the way humans treat animals as they feel animals pain...its also easy to understand why a person with the gift of empathy for humans find it hard to understand a gift they dont have....try seeing things from others view point and you can learn a lot and even share you own gifts!

Because they don't have to see the animals getting slaughtered. They arrive in the form of a nice steak. It's easy to forget about the animal it once was.
And those animals in Africa, and the rain forrests? They're too far away.

Because I don't know the rest of them. I don't have a bond with the rest of them. I love my pets. The rest of them can get eaten.
