I'm wondering if the crafty make your own veil kits turn out okay. I don't understand how I can pay $150 for a veil...please let me know what options are out there beside the bridal boutique veil.

I made mine. I got some edged tulle and attached it to a pretty hair clip. It was simple, and it was exactly what I wanted.

Making your own veil is super, super easy, and cheap. Go to any fabric store and buy some tulle (very fine nylon net). It comes plain, sparkly, glittery, even already dotted with pearls or rhinestones. Cut it to the length you want, you can round the edges or leave it straight, depending on the look you want. Then gather the top and attach it to a comb, barrette, or headpiece. You can find cheap headpieces and tiaras online. Tulle is cheap enough to experiment with length, how many layers you want, etc. You can get it at Walmart for 99 cents a yard, fabric stores start at about 1.99 a yard.

My mom made my veil for me as well as both my sisters!! I was also like you and didn't see the purpose in spending that much on the veil!!!~

You can find patterns at most fabric stores for veils and then all you have to do is buy the veil fabric you want and any trim!! I loved my veil and yes, it wasn't perfect as the trim didn't line up perfectly with the lace, but no one but me noticed!! And in my pictures it looks amazing!! Plus I can always tell my family, friends, children, that my mom made my veil!!! It would be cool to say you did it yourself!!

Good luck!!

I made my own veil and it turned out great. I purchased my kit from my local Micheal's craft store and added my own personal touch and for about thirty dollars I had exactly what I wanted. And the kits are very user friendly.

I recommend going to a craft store. They have bridal sections and you can buy a plain veil for about $10...then you can add beading and such to it if you like. I got my veil at a bridal shop and it was only $80.

You can make your own easily. Just find one you like at the store and take a good look at it. You can usually figure out how they put it all together. Don't buy a kit. They don't turn out as well as you would hope they would. I made my own with some tulle and a headband. It worked perfectly.

I am a seamstress and hate sewing tulle. I have also seen way to many crappy made homemade veils- you have to be good a sewing to make a nice one. I got a really nice one on ebay for $20 including the shipping. Try there- mine is very full, puffy and matches my dress perfectly- $20 and no hassel!!

Never tried but I bought my bridal veil online and it was like $60 and it was beautiful. I got to customize it- choose the comb and then the veil color, length, # of tiers and embellishments. I can't remember the name of the site but I am sure that online merchants still offer great deals on beautiful pieces.

You can make your own veil. Many craft stores have very high quality supplies. But you as the bride should not make anything you will wear at your wedding. It's considered unlucky. Express you ideas for the veil but leave the assembly of it up to your mother or a friend.

The fabric is tulle. Add your own accessories/decorations. Buy a clip. I made mine for about $12. No one knew the difference.
