HNC/HND and NVQ Level 4 are EXACTLY the same level

NVQ Level 1 = GCSE D - G
NVQ Level 2 = GCSE A* - C
NVQ Level 3 = A Level
NVQ Level 4 = HNC/HND/Oridinary Degree
NVQ Level 5 = Doctorate

Each accredited qualification has an NQF level... HND stands for higher national diploma, which is the next step up from HNC which is higher national certificate, both these along with NVQ 4 are at level 4 of the National Qualifications framework.
However take note that this framework has been changed to better represent the higher end of qualifications. the HNC and NVQ will now be based at level 4 and the NHD will be level 5.

NVQ Level 4 is the equivalent of a degree. And ignore the comment about them not being useful, they really are. I've just finished my NVQ and it is one of the best things that I have done. I learnt on the job and once I finished I got a promotion at work and a £3,000.00 pay rise, pretty useful I'd say! If you don't enjoy the traditional style of learning (going to college or university etc) Then i would seriously recommend it as an alternative. I left University after the first year after finding that full time education wasn't right for me anymore and went straight into my NVQ and have never looked back or regretted it.

Probably rated about the same but if you have a choice go for the HNC or HND just look at job adverts to see how many ask for HNC and none ask for NVQ qualifications
