Just got done with my last bit of vicodin yesterday after ankle and leg surgery and my Dr. prescribed me tramadol. Just wondering if anyone has taken both or tramadol at least and what your experiences were with it. Did it make you feel the same as vicodin....etc. etc. etc.

I was on darvoset for 2 years for Lupus and dermatomyosits for chronic pain and just switched to tramadol. I find that it works extremely well for me and causes less sweating than darvoset. I use to sweat like crazy on the darvoset because its a narcotic pain killer. My doctor perscribed one tablet in the am and one in the pm around supper time. The tramadol does not make me feel so drugged up like the darvoset did and I personally like that much better. Hope this helps...have a great day!!

No, it didnt. Tramadol isnt a narcotic. It is a synthetic narcotic. It is not nearly as strong as a pain releaver as vicodin. Tramadol do have good analgesic properties (pain-killing), but i would stick with the vicodin. Tramadol also will not give you the same euphoria like vicodin will. Which means tramadol will not get you "high" like vicodin. They are both good pain-killers, but I would choose the vicodin

.Tramadol is WAY better then Vicodin and Tramadol is not addictive like Vicidin. Tramadol is used to relieve moderate to moderately severe pain. It also may be used to treat pain caused by surgery and chronic conditions such as cancer or joint pain. Tramadol works by decreasing the brain's perception and response to pain. Tramadol also reduces the size or magnitude of the pain signal passed from one nerve to another.

You mean does it get you high? No, not really. Ultram is a tricky medication. It's not listed at this time on the controlled substance list with the DEA, but it IS addictive and is one of the most abused medications out there. But it's nothing like Vicodin or other narcotics in the way it makes you feel.

I found Tramadol to be absolutely worthless.

I doubt that for the length of time you'll be taking the Tramadol you'll have a problem, but I doubt it will help or get you that pleasant high.

Tramadol is a VERY effective pain killer. Avoid Vico and Oxycontin as much as possible.

Tramadol (Ultram) is very effective, it is a prescription only drug, it makes you woozy but not falling down loopy. I like Tramadol because it is safer with less side effects.

I am here to tell you, Tramadol works.

I can tell you from experience, I'm not sure how many they have told you to take at one time, but for it to be "equivelant" to what your use to, you need to take 4 at a time. If still "nothing" then 4 hours later take 5 in one sitting...I personally cannot recommend taking anymore than 5 at one time. Your tolerance level is so high that you have to start off with a high dose THEN work yourself down. Good luck cause they worked for me!
