Sorry to be harsh, but being a doctor is a calling, not a profession. If your heart is not in it you won't last the long hours and the emotions and the agony. And there will DEFINITELY be prejudices and hardships if you choose to make money rather than save lives. Don't waste your talents and ambitions- do something useful with your training. You'll find many who made rich as doctors never had the intention in the first place- people merely flock to them because they had the heart for the people, not their pockets.

Cosmetic surgery, California or South Florida (Miami).

Now, if you're interested in doing good work that will save lives, not egos, and you're VERY good (like top 2% good), Cardiac / Thorasic Surgeon or Neurosurgery.

Other than similar specialties, the only way to make a boat load of cash in the medical profession involves shady to outright criminal activity...and I'm sure you want to avoid that.

Now for the realities...black or white, you're from South Africa, there are still a fair amount of discrimination based on that fact alone. Your medical degree may not be recognised outside of Africa...in fact, as is, it likely wouldn't be without you having to undergo a second residency in your new country.

Good luck.

Start by writing a book or two. Revenue may just trickle in from it, but the more you get published or see & do will always sell books. Tell others what you are doing and invite them to read about your experiences.

But always be friendly. Don't put blame on people that might be trying to help but are restricted by some government or regulation or whatever.

try changing to business, most people who want to be doctors have other incentives than just money. That would help you and all the rest of us.

Cheap labour and your famaliarity with the region will definitely help you create a viable business. And ask that nobel peace prize guy for a loan.

But you realize if you come to USA you will need to go to Medical school again and pass USMLE even if you are a doctor in your country?
