Im a 21 year old female, in shape, and sometimes I get really bad chest pains. It hurts worse most times when I breathe in. Why do I get this? Is it serious? It feels like something is stabbing me. Is there anything I can do? Does anyone know what it is?!

Usually it will point to either Heart, Lungs or in most cases, upper GI problems, like, indigestion's.
Being so young, and you dint tell of other symptoms, it would be best if getting an x-ray done.
No person other a Dr. can truly answer you but you should be seen by a Dr. to alleviate any serious problems.
This is the only smart way to go!

I get that same feeling and I'm 20. I eat fine, and get plenty of exercise and I'm in pretty good shape but I do get that from time to time. I don't think it's anything serious though. But I'm not a doctor.

well you should check with your doc but i had the same thing right after i had my son and they told me it was an air bubble outside my lung inside my chest cavity it was nothing to worry about though they were painful! he said that it would stop hurting when my body absorbed it and it might take a while but not to worry. i dont know if that is what you have so i would check with your doc just in case. good luck

You need to have a chest xray. call your doctor and tell him to set it up. Do not play around when your chest is involved you are not to young to have problems. I work in a Hospital and i see it all the time.

I had this once too. Turns out it was an inflammed chest muscle. Could be that or a strained ligament, but hey, I'm no doctor.

Do go immediately to check with a doctor, do not dilly dally with chest pains, especially as young as you are !

It really sounds like a panic attack or depression. There is always a chance of your heart acting up but that is doubtful. It is always best to have it checked.
