What programs do they make patches out of to crack a program?
How do they do it?
It just all doesn't make sense to me. How it's possible.

I'm not planning of doing anything, I barely know what everybody is talking about. It just was a question that amazed me that people can do what they do. Thats all.

It's easy to crack most programs, you just have to be able to decompile them, and then look for the part that involves asking for a registration key code or whatever. Simply remove it, replace it with your hacker id, or a picture of something cool, and tada, no more passwords/keycodes required to install.
Once you figure out how that works, it is simple to write a little program to do it for other people - and that is your patch.
You usually need a copy of C++ or whatever program was used to create the install, and some programming knowledge.

Different methods for different programs. Changing Registry settings, Cryptographic decoding, etc. It's equivalent to breaking into a house or bank. Different buildings use different security measures.
All programs can be broken down into assembly language or disassembled. It's like taking something apart to see how it works. Then, they change the program to make it work differently.
i.e. bypass passwords and the like.

How does a mechanic hack a motor to give it 25 more hp? Not an easy question to answer.
Learn to follow Assembly, machine code, C++. Get yourself a disassembler. Get yourself a hex editor. Lastly, get yourself a good lawyer, cause if you get caught violating the DMCA in the US you are going to federal prison.

most people use hex viewers to view the code, most people are skilled in c++ to be able to write patches/hacks, most people who write hacks are game coders to start with.
