It is against "illegal" immigration. The reason the anti illegal immigration crowd claims that anyone who opposes their agenda is a racist is because they have no legitimate argument and have to use the race card to stay in the fight.
I believe it is the pro immigration crowd who has the racist tendencies. In Oklahoma we have a program in which we sponsor foreign born physicians to work in rural and impoverished areas. We have encountered a lot of opposition from the same groups that support illegals.
I do not know if it is racism; most of the Doctors are Indian, Asian and Arab or if they are afraid of losing some political power.
I was able to realize that you did not place the "s" in is and was able to answer your question unlike some of the less learned people on this forum.

It is about Illegal Immigration and the sovereign right to be a Nation...irrevocable by the United States Constitution being defied by Congress! Read En Route To Global Occupation by Gary Kah... and see the Clinton Papers in Yahoo Answers..they sold the Nation out and the American people had no say in it! Let the Games begin!

There may be a few who are against certain other people immigrating to the US, they may be racist, or they may feel we have enough people here already to fill the jobs. There are many who are against illegal immigrants, because the come here ILLEGALLY! I don't care if the illegal is Hispanic, Polish, Irish Jewish, French or English, though I recognize that the great majority of the are Hispanic, I want them all to go back to their country of origin, start to aplly for immigration legally, perhaps learn to speak English (if they don't already know it) while they are waiting. It is not racism to want equal justice/fairness to everyone.

the line gets blurred when anti immigration people start saying that mexicans are in gangs and criminals and murderers. And say bad things about the people as reason to keep them out. And idea of keeping out and terrorizing foriegners has roots in past racist organizations who wanted pure christian white america.
And as in any country around the world this dislike of outsiders is 'generally speaking' a defining characteristic of the uneducated rural hillbillies (their hillbilliness being to one extent or another)

Did you hear that Americans who fly to Mexico and the Caribbean will now have to have a passport to re-enter the USA, but illegal immigrants can't "run for the border" and we are suppose to turn out other cheek? The laws are for the lawless! I had to get in this counrty the old fashioned way. I was born here! And to actual American parents...imagine that! The only thing that worrys me is "the lady in the harbor" says "give us your tired, give us your poor, give us your huddled masses." Now we don't want them because they don't come through Ellis Island!

I don' think people are against "immigration" but illegal immigration. It is not racist to want anyone of any nationality to come into the country in the legal way so taxes are paid just as we Americans have to pay them - not to mention health care, etc.

It depends, there are plenty of people on here who are racist or xenophobic if you ask me. However, there are also some who don't have a problem with immigration as a whole, but only have a problem with it when it's not done legally and have no problem with the person's ethnicity or skin color.

What is all the debate about?
If someone is in this country illegally, then it is illegal, period.
My thing is, what about Mexico's immigration laws?
What is the penalty for being in Mexico illegally?
I will save you the trouble of researching that, It is illegal and a prison sentence.
So why aren't the mexican people up in arms about that?

I think it's both. I hate to say it but I feel that hispanics are the blacks of the 21st century.
They will be made the scapegoat for whatever the "problem" is.
