James 4:7
"Submit yourself to God. Risist the devil and he must flee."
James 2:19
"You surely believe there is only one God. That's fine. Even demons believe this, and it makes them shake with fear."
Acts 4:30
"Show your mighty power, as we heal people and work miracles and wonders in the name of your holy Servant Jesus."
If that's not power in Jesus' name, I don't know what is.

I don't recall any specific verse that says it directly, it's more practical application.
For example, here is the name being used as the authority to tell demons to leave.
Acts 16:18
She kept this up for many days. Finally Paul became so troubled that he turned around and said to the spirit, "In the name of Jesus Christ I command you to come out of her!" At that moment the spirit left her.
Think about back in the times of Kings. A knight or someone would give an order and say "in the name of the king" It's the same idea. Jesus is the King of Kings, Lord of Lords. His name carries the highest authority in the universe. That is the context of this power that you're referring to.

Jam 4:8 Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you. Cleanse [your] hands, [ye] sinners; and purify [your] hearts, [ye] double minded.

Well,I don't have my Bible ,but in Acts, around ch 11 or so Paul tells a woman who has the" spirit of divination" to depart in the name of Jesus .also later in the book, the 7 sons of Scheva(unbelievers) try to cast out a demon and he says,"Paul I know and Jesus I know, but who are you ?" and then he proceeds to kick their @sses!See,it didn't work unless you are a believer.
