I learned a "move" that has helped a TON when giving my son medicine or doing saline up his nose when he's got a cold. I hope I explain it correctly...you sit on the floor with your legs out in front of you. Then, lay him down on his back, between your legs so that his head is at the base of your crotch(he's pointing the same way as you but looking up at you). Then take each arm and put it under both your legs(his left arm goes under your left leg and right under right leg). Now you've got his arms down and his head cannot shake side to side b/c your thighs are preventing it. He can still kick up his legs but he cannot fight you if you come at his eyes. I hope this helps! Our pediatrician showed it to me and it really has changed my life! Good luck!

This is going to sound horrible! But you have to kneel over him, basically straddling him, with his arms to his sides so that your legs can hold his arms down then you have both hand to get the drops in his eyes. I had a son that had eye surgery at 2 1/2 for lazy eye and we had to do drops for a couple of months. It is not the easiest thing to do and you do feel like you are sitting on them but it has to be done and then there is less of a chance of you getting pink eye. Don't forget to wash your hands!!!

We went thru that w/twins. Sadly enough, you just have to do it. I had my husband or older sons help me almost hold them down, while I did the drops. Me, holding the eye open and dropping the drops. I know that sounds mean, but sometimes you just gotta what you gotta do. The drops have to be used to get rid of the pink eye. We, of course, then did alot of praising for being a good, big boy, with hugs afterwards. Good luck!

Well have him lay relaxed so that he has his head in your lap. Dont push it onto him so much. Tell him to close his eyes, and put them in the tearduct section of his eye. When he opens them, it will go in there, and he will feel better with this method then pushing it onto him. Also remind him that you are only doing whats best for him, and that you love him, and want him better. Then when he does, PRAISE him to no ends, and clap and make a really big deal of what a big boy he is. With the positive encouragment he will allow you to do it more cooperatively.
Hope He's better soon! Good Luck!

You need a second person there to hold him down with his/her body, and open his eyes forcefully.
Or promise him a cookie or treat if he lets you put it in.

Drop it in the corner of his eye while his eye is closed and tell him "blink, blink, blink" and laugh when he does it. My son thinks that "blink blink" is a game.
