Abraham, wasn't it? Seems like God would be more impressed with someone who refused to kill anyone. Personally, I refuse to discriminate against gays, I refuse to own slaves, and I refuse to throw stones at my adulterous neighbors. Is god happy with me or upset?

He commanded that of Abraham to see if he had the faith in God to do it. He knew that the child would not be killed. It was just a test of faith.

God tested Abraham's faith. Abraham knew God's promise to make him the father of a great nation through Issac. His faith was so great that he trusted God to raise up his son from the dead, if necessary. This was also a foreshadowing of the Father raising Jesus from the dead.

As far as God being "happy" with you, He loves you, no matter what you do. But as Proverbs 16:25 says, "There is a way that seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death."

The reason for that is found in Isaiah 64:6: "But we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags." Which means that all your 'good' attitudes and works will not buy His approval.

You wanna make God happy? Here's how:

Joh 3:16-18 "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

"For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.

"He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God."

Abraham didn't kill his son. God at the last minute removed his request. It was not for the sake of killing, but a forshadowing of what Christ would do. The ram was a substitute for Isaac, just as Christ is a substitute for us.

Considering christians are not asked to stone adulterous neighbors or own slaves or discriminate against gays and are actually told to love your neighbor and share the love of Christ with them....your question is a bit confusing. I can't answer it because it is based on a false presumption.

God asked Abraham to sacrifice his son because He was testing him. But God stopped him and would not allow it. He just wanted to test Abraham's obedience. He wanted to see if Abraham would be willing to go as far as He Himself would - sacrificing His own Son.
Actually, Christ would be happy with you. However, you should pray for those who need Christ's guidance in their lives, like gays and adulterers, because they are both disobeying the 7th commandment.

He tested Abraham, but never again. God does not tell people to commit murder, much less their own children. The people who use this defense in court are just trying to get off on the insanity defense.

You people should actually read the bible so it makes some sense, the little bible stories from childhood don't cut it.

I can see you live in a tough neighbourhood. Neighbours throwing stones at adulterers, gay bashing, people owning slaves, God asking parents to kill there children. My, where do you live? You are ignorant of the Bible to boot. If you want God happy, then accept Jesus, the Son of God into your heart and repent of sin.

In OT law, once a year, you were to sacrifice your best to God. Back then, their livestock was their prized possessions, their measure of wealth. So, they would pick out their best, unblemished, young, healthy lamb and sacrifice it to God.

But, it wasn't a waste, because then, they had a big cookout and enjoyed a feast.

No different than we slaying cattle for beef.

God was testing Abraham. You see, Abraham loved his son so much. He was his favorite.

God had big plans for Abraham. He was to be the father of all nations, and He wanted to be sure that Abraham had faith, and was strong enough Spiritually to lead His nation.

God wanted to be sure that Abraham didn't love his son more than he loved God. God comes first. Always.

God never intended for Abraham to sacrifice his son. But, He told Abraham to sacrifice Isaac, because Abraham treasured Isaac more than any possession he owned. God wanted Abraham to sacrifice his best.

No sacrifice is a sacrifice if you don't give up something.

Abraham proved faithful. Abraham proved to God that he loved God more than any possession he had, including his son.

Abraham passed the test. God stopped him before he followed through.

And Abraham became the father of all nations.

To answer your first question...Back in Abraham's day, God wanted to see just how obedient Abraham was to Him. If He wanted Abraham to actually kill his son, God wouldl not have stopped him from killing him. It was a tests of faith.

To answer your second question...2 Thesalonians 3:14-15 And if any man obey not our word by this epistle, note that man, and have no company with him, that he may be ashamed.

15 Yet count him not as an enemy, but admonish him as a brother.

2 Corinthians 6:14 Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness?

All you are doing is accepting their lifestyles as ok and you have become tolerant of them. Not one time did you say that you are praying for them. You have successfully conformed to the sinful lifestyles of this world, God is not of this world. Satan is. God want us to transform our selves towrds Him and not expect Him to conform to this sinful world, because that is never going to happen.

Romans 12:2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

Good for you, living a moral life and refusing to obey all those horrible things God supposedly commands. It's exactly that kind of thing that made me understand that God was invented by man.
