I'm currently beginning a very promising and enjoyable career as a legislative assistant and legal attaché in the Institute for Legislative Action [ILA], the legal and political wing of the NRA. I believe that the actions of the NRA/ILA, and to a small degree my personal actions, help to ensure the protection of the Second Amendment Civil Rights of all Americans.
However, I have found that if a girl I am attempting to ask on a date inquires into what I do for a living, and I answer her honestly, she will usually loose interest.
I was wondering if should either continue to be honest and hope to find someone is not bothered by the fact that I fight for the civil rights of all Americans, a strategy which has yet to work, or if I should be less then perfectly honest about my career, possibly mentioning only that I work for a lobbying/legal defense firm, and then reveal the truth after a girl has gotten to know me???
Thank you in advance for any advice.

By the way, I only went into the degree of detail to describe my position because I wasn't sure that the individuals on this board would be familiar with the ILA or its mission.
Where I live and appropriately socialize, namely Washington, DC, there is no such confusion.

NO! DO NOT LIE! A woman who does not have a clue about the Constitution is an airhead and not worth messing with. However, if you're a liar for the sake a woman's approval, then you're not worth messing with, either!
It's really better to filter them out early on than to be a woman-pleaser for the sake of what you have to gain, in your mind. If you think like that, you'll never make a good husband or father. Furthermore, women will wind up having so much contempt for you that they'll surely chew you up and spit you out.
Be a man of principle, and don't relate to women like policitians relate to the people (telling them what you think they want to here). Be a man.

I don't think you should lie. You feel a certain passion about your career and you should be true to yourself in that regard. Women may not share your political views and not want to continue a relationship with you. Others who are savvy might find it fascinating. I do not think it is bad to just say to say you work for a lobbying/legal defense firm. It is the truth, not a lie.
In the perfect world, politics should not get in the way of companionship and romance. Be discerning and try to display a less cerebral aspect of your character. It may make a more appealing presence.

I absolutely do not think you should lie about what you do.
However, there is no reason to go into great detail from the start. The girl asked what you do, not a full overview of your political beliefs. If they don't ask more questions, there's no reason to go on about it. Even for those who don't necessarily disagree with you, the fact that one of the first things you say to them is so politically charged is a turn off.
Some will agree with you, or don't really have any beliefs of their own and will come to agree with you over time as they decide they like you. Those who don't agree with you are almost certainly not going to work out in a relationship, so there's no point lying to them about it. Answer them truthfully, but don't feel compelled to answer more than they actually ask.

Tell the truth up front and be honest. You don't want to get involved with someone that can't respect your career path. A lie is a lie - if you reveal it later it may destroy a relationship with someone that shares your passion for what you do (after all, what you do is fight for civil rights - a lie is not the way to do that!!)

You shouldnt hide what you are. If you enjoy it than thats what matters. The girl who are seem like they're loosing interest are probably shallow. Maybe in future, you should just tone down your answer and dont give a long winded explanation. just short and sweet. You wouldnt want to lie because if things get more serious with a certain girl, she wont be happy to find out you lied. There's many people out there who dont care what their man dodes for a living.

Well, if you say that whole paragraph when girls ask what you do, then yeah, they'll be turned off... it makes you sound like you think you're the greatest thing ever... just tell them the truth, but don't go into detail... use only a few words, and then switch the subject back to her.

Try telling the truth...if this girl were to find out that you lied to her, there is an excellent chance she'd dump you. If she doesn't believe in the work you do, then she has a decision to make about dating you. If she isn't given an option, she may be angry later.

I would be even more offended with someone who was hiding truth from me.
If you are looking for someone who is really interested in you, keep up the search for someone who can handle what you do and what you are passionate about.

A true woman would be thrilled with what you do, and admire you as well.
Any other woman is not worth your time.
Be happy that those other women lost interest, as they showed you right off the bat how shallow they were~ and not worth your time and energy.

Be honest. I personally find your career very interesting. Others will too. Maybe just don't be so "wordy" when you tell it.
