I have a friend who is Mormon. It is against his faith to get them. He went and talked to his minister about what he thought. The man actually uncovered his arms and revealed two full sleeves. the moral of this story is, God forgives. If you want to decorate your body, go for it.

It solely depends on how you define your faith and your relationship with God (which ever one you believe in)
Personally, I don't think its against any religion. Even if a bible says its wrong or frowned upon, those are rules cannot be followed 110% of the time. The bible is more a guideline and for teaching, not for strict living. There is no way anyone can follow everything in those books completely and some rules are meant to be bent and broken.
Tattoos do not make ANYONE a bad person or less religious/faithful/whatever. Its self expression and all very personal, leave it at that.

I am a Christian & I go to a Church of Christ. I have a tattoo on my foot & there are quite a few other people there who also have tattoos & no body looks down on us. Every body should except us for who your are. I have heard that your body is the Lords temple but then why do we get our ears pierced??? I know alot of little old ladies that have there ears pierced & I dont think that they are bad people going against their faith. But I dont know. Every body has there own opinions about these things & faith is very controversial subject & I am sorry If I affended anyone. I hope this helps answer your question! :)

Some, but certainly not all, in fact in some religions and faiths tattoos are considered spiritual. Judaism (Jewish) does consider tattoos to be against the faith (although I know plenty of Jews who have tattoos anyway!) It is highly debated in Catholicism, with strong arguments to both affects... some people argue that your body belongs to God and so you should treat it thus... Other people argue as long as God is in your heart your body is your own CORINTHIANS 10:31 — "…whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God."

Yes. According to most religions your body is God's temple and it should not have any impurities. Including piercings, tattoos, alcohol, drugs...anything like that. Some religions are becoming open to it because body art is here to stay. I personally have 6 tattoos and considering myself a good catholic woman!

i am a christian and i have tattoos.
the old testament instructs them not to cut or mark their bodies. however modern day christians do not generally follow all of the rules that were given in the old testament which also disallowed eating certain types of meats, giving specific days in which married couples were not allowed to have sex. an eye for an eye, wo don't go around doing to others what they have done to us.
i feel that my tattoos do not reflect myself in a bad way. they are not offensive or profane. they are beautiful pieces of art that pay tribute to my family and friends.

I would not understand why it would be, other than a waste of
money that could be directed to other areas for helpful purposes.
I don't believe it makes much difference what you do with the outside of a body, it's what is inside and the good acts that come from it that make the difference.

The Bible warns us against tattoos in Leviticus 19:28 (Amplified) which says, "Ye shall not make any cuttings in your flesh for the dead, nor print or tattoo any marks upon you: I am the Lord."
I know some will have a hard time receiving this teaching because tattooing has now become an accepted practice in our society. However, just because society approves of something does not make it right in God's eyes. Our society at large, also approves of abortion and divorce as well. However, the Bible makes it clear that God doesn't approve of these things.
