A Christians duty is not to contribute to the violence and hate, while pointing attention to the true solution which is God's kingdom in the hands of his son. John 13:34,35. Matthew 24:14, Daniel 2:44

Yes, and many of us try to. If you want to consider this war being in the name of God and why arent we preventing it, how can we prevent it without violence? The best we can do is show we do not condone such violence and not support it. We've been protesting it for 5 years... hasnt done much.

A Christian should try to commit any violence, whether done in the name of God or not, but ONLY PASSIVELY, never with violence. The only time violence would be self defense of any kind. (Included in there would be defended your children or anyone else who needs to be defended)

Excellent question--

Of course, it begs the question of to what lengths one goes to prevent violence.

Just War Theory, Civil disobedience, and Pacifism are just three examples used by Christians to discuss how to do so or to take a stance against violence done in the name of God.

I think of the Civil Rights movement as a good example--people of faith, using the language of faith, to nonviolently stand up to the violence of segregation, which also relied on religious language for its justification...

Now, if you're baiting us to say whether or not we think Christians should fight Muslim extremists, I think that begs for a much longer, much more nuanced conversation...

Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends. -John 15:13
If a crazy fanatical anybody were shooting at YOU, you could have no greater friend than a sincere Christian. They would lay down their life to save you. Is our duty to stop violence, No, It is our duty to clean our own hearts and not to do violence in his name. It is our duty to suffer the violence so that others do not.

The early Christian Crusades (who were honestly Catholic) did commit many murders and violence contained in the call of god. notwithstanding, God is love and teaches human beings to love their enemies and turn the different cheek. So i do not recognize what God they are worshipping.

Violence commited In the name of THE God, or every "god" that people have invented?

A "true" Christian will never commit violence, Unfortunately 99% of them are not true Christians I'm sorry to say, and as Christians we sure as hell will never stop the violence, to kill in the name of "God" is a sure one way ticket to damnation and hell I assure you of that.
