are there any personal reflections or just simple advice anyone would care to offer. i'm worried about the typical stuff...how it might effect my mood, sleep quality, libido, and general motivation for living a rich and fulfilling life. basically, i would hope it helps to enhance my quality of life rather than have the opposite effect.

I have been on Wellbutrin SR for the past 6 months with pretty good results. The only side effect I noticed on Wellbutrin was an annoying metallic taste in my mouth and sleeplessness (which I found was due to taking the drug at bedtime - don't do that). Please do not consume alcohol (of any type) while taking this medication, you are defeating the purpose.

I was on Lexipro and tried Zoloft which messed me up on sleeping, I had NO sex drive, some weight gain and it was hard coming off of it since I had days when I felt like I could not function.

Wellbutrin was by far the best way to go. Best of luck to you.

I don't think it will affect you much at all. I've been on it for a while and of the few that I've tried, it's got the least amount of side effects. I mostly take it for anxiety but have tried other stuff like effexor and cymbalta for various reasons and those are the worst meds in the world as far as I'm concerned. Took forever to get off of those and eventually I want off the wellbutrin too, but as far as side affects, I don't really notice any, even when I've run out and it's a few days before I refill. Good luck.

The drug bupropion (Wellbutrin, Wellbutrin SR) is the most commonly used member of the novel Antidepressant class. It is quite unique in its efficiency to inhibit the reuptake of dopamine, serotonin and norepinephrine. Reuptake lowers reception of feel-good brain chemicals. Maprotiline (Ludiomil) and mirtazapine (Remeron) are the two main drugs from the group of tetracyclic Antidepressants. Mirtazapine acts by increasing the amount of noradrenaline and serotonin, and is of benefit in particular for the treatment of depression accompanied with anxiety, agitation and /or sleep disturbances.

Like everyone says, it does depend on the person (chemistry and such). My personal experience was loss of appetite, increased energy, insomina, an increase in anxiety (which is why I actually stopped). It will get you feeling a little higher than normal until your body gets used to it. Then, like a lot of medication, you will balance out and hopefully decide if it works.

I have been on Welbutrin and its extended release. For me what you have to look out for and watch is one of the probable side effects and that is seizures. Nothing Grand Mal for me but I would go into almost a trance and come out of it 10 mins later very disoriented. Docs said it was because of this medicine. So be wary...

take it as directed and dont miss a dose. also, you probably need to stay on the medicine for a few months to be able to tell if its making a difference. its common for people to dislike the side effects at first and stop taking it. what those people dont realize is that it usually takes a number of months to start working correctly and the side effects almost always go away if you just stick to it.

I took it to quit smoking did not notice any side effects In fact though it was not the reason I was on it it did seem to improve my mood. Everyone is different so it could react differently for you but I was fine with it.

You have to be patient: it can take up to 3 weeks before you notice an improvement. But youwill see it and your life will improve. Continue the medication even when you feel better.
