If I bought a used car at 6pm (the close of business) on a Sunday, and took the car back to the lot so it was in their possession by the end of business hours on Wednesday. Wouldn't that make it within the 72 hours allowed by law to return a vehicle and get a full refund???

I also want to add that the day after I bought it I put new tires on it(cause the old ones were bald and it was snowing) and I also filled up the gas tank ($125 - its a full size suv). am I entitled to a reimbursement of any of that?

I'm in the state of WA, in case that makes a difference.

I'm only returning the car because it has major mechanical problems that weren't noticed when mechanic first looked at it. The cam shaft & lifters need to be replaced. Over $1000 just for the labor. I was working with the dealership, they might pay to fix the car because I've done business with them several times before. But they're being really shady about getting back to me. anyone know anything about the "implied warranty of merchantability” under state law. It says that a car has to be sold in safe, driveable condition and without any major repairs required. Otherwise the dealership is required to fix the repairs or offer a refund.

72 hours equals 3 calendar days, so you were in the time frame. You should have taken the tires off because reimbursement for them was not included in the contract. As to the gas, I hope they said "Thank you".

945pm I read your update if another dealer/ mechanic can or will put down in writing your updated issues with SUV there should be no problem. Understand al sales peeps are out to make a sale. The vibe I am gettin off update another dealer is trying to sit you in there car? Take a minute & feel who has been honest to you. I think what you have wrote go to the BBB & try to get your monies back. Do not drive SUV anymore. Once you get through this(hopefully) do some research before going onto another lot. So different explainin on key board. Please research til you and yourself feel good! I mean feel good til the first payment. t0g0oyahoo I do not know what your "lemon laws" are? Check out WA.gov find laws and search for lemon laws. Sunday in my state is not considered a business day. So if your purchase agreement says you have 72 hours to return for full refund. You should be OK? Most times there has to be something wrong with the car for a full return. You can talk to the Better Business Bea rue they can guide you. AS far as the tires I can not see you getting anything for them. You knew you needed before driving off. Replace with used tires and sell the new ones. Hope that helps. GL

You have no right to recind, it is only a myth. The second you pay and sign, done deal. No 72 hours- no nothing. If this was true you could get a car every 71 hours for free. How would you like to be in the car business and loan out cars for 71 hours for Free? LEMON law only applies to new cars. It states if you take a vehicle in for repair for the exact same problem and can not be fixed within 3 times in it's first year ownership. Maybe you have a claim.

You do not have a right of return unless your contract says that you do. There is no right of recission in law for car sales in any of the 50 states or at the Federal level.

You owned the car as soon as you took delivery and the dealer is under no obligation what-so-ever to take it back.

Your only option is to sell it to someone else or trade it in on something else. You'll probalby lose your shirt on either of those deals but those are your options.
