This is not at all meant to be an offensive question. Rather, I'm wondering if there are some believers who have faith in God and at the same time they realize that some parts of the Bible are not true. Maybe that's better stated by asking if any think that some parts of the Bible are not an accurate reflection of the truth.

A perfectly legitimate question.
I believe if you are a Christian, a believer and follower o f Jesus Christ, it would be hard not to be a believer of the Bible. On the other hand, there are different interpretations of the Bible among Christians. For instance, the book of Job: does it relate something that happened, or is it simply inspired poetry? Is Genesis 1 and 2 meant to be taken literally, or is it a couple of inspired songs about creation? My personal view would be described as very conservative, but a person can be a true Christian and have a differing view on those things.
On the other hand, for a person to claim to be a Christian, but feel he has to explain away every miracle of the Bible, I would find that to be very contradictory.

Lots of them do not believe it is absolutely and entirely true especially the parts about their personal sin. Another issue is that people like to second guess God. "If I were God I would do it this way. . ." There are two central criteria for being a Christian. First, is believing in the diety of Christ and the second is believing in the authority of scripture. If you fail on either count your belief system is more akin to a cult instead of Christianity. It's really a matter of who you want to believe, i.e., the Bible or someone's opinion about the Bible. If someone says to me, "my opinion of what the Bible means is -Blank, my response is what would the Bible mean if you were dead? Why would you trust any one person's opinion of the Bible versus the opinions of all of the clergy for the last 2000 years? Are we too advanced an too intelligent now to believe in miracles? Do you want to worship a God who is different from the God revealed in the Bible? There are lots of gods out there, many of them created by so called Christians with their own idea of scripture and their own idea of God apart from scripture. I suggest that you rely upon God as he is revealed in scripture instead of whomever is giving their opinion.

It simply can not all be true, because it was a few scribes that wrote and interpreted all the stories they were given, the scribes simply put what they thought was true, they were never able to confirm any of the stories they were told, as far as the bible is concerned the truth of it's contents will never ever be proven, It is simply all pas-tense now.

Well, it depends on what you mean by "truth."

I'm an ordained minister with a Master's degree. I'm well aware that Genesis is not a scientific book and its creation stories (yes, adam and eve and the 7 day creation story are not the same story--look closely), and I'm well aware that the chronologies of the crucifixion are different in John.

I'm also highly doubtful that the resurrection was an actual, physical resucitation of Jesus' body.

And I don't believe that Jesus was made up of some sort of Godly substance....

However, what I do believe is that those of us who are Christian experience God through the life of Jesus Christ, as we read and experience it in the story of the Gospels and in the experience of the Church engaging in the world and doing its best to do justice, love kindness and walk humbly with God and the rest of creation.

I much prefer the examples of clergy like MLK and Desmond Tutu to folks like Jerry Falwell, James Dobson, and the like....

That is a very fair question, politely worded, thank you.

I believe the Bible in it's entirety is a perfect reflection of the truth. Not that the text itself doesn't have "mistakes" in it like misspellings. Although 95% of the manuscript evidence correlates and of the 5% that seems to be "mistakes" not a single one affects a single christian doctrine.
I believe the truth found within it is perfect truth.

The Bible reveals Truth. It is NOT factual. Through allegory and example (good AND bad), it presents a dialog and DEVELOPMENT of the understandings and relationship between God and people. It is not an historical record of "how" but a manual of "why". It is to be encountered, not "obeyed".

i hope some part are not true.I have a problem equating the following quotes from the Bible with a ‘kind and loving god’ that s portrayed by Christians.

Leviticus 25:44—46: As for your male and female slaves whom you may have; you may buy male and female slaves from among the nations that are around you. You may also buy from among the strangers who sojourn with you and their families that are with you, who have been born in your land; and they may be your property.

Exodus 2:7—11: When a man sells his daughter as a slave, she shall not go out as the male slaves do. If she does not please her master, who has designated her for himself, then he shall let her be redeemed; he shall have no right to sell her to a foreign people, since he has dealt faithlessly with her. If he designates her for his son, he shall deal with her as with a daughter.

2 Thessalonians 1:6—9: God deems it just to repay with affliction those who afflict you….when then lord Jesus is reveled from heaven with his mighty angels in flaming fire, inflicting vengeance on those who do not know god and upon those who do not obey the gospel of the lord Jesus. They shall suffer the punishment of eternal destruction and the exclusion from the presence of the Lord….

Truth lasts forever (and God's word is true)

The grass withers, the flower fades, but the word of our God stands forever.
Isaiah 40:8

People change, the translation changes, the world changes, but God stays the same forever and is always true.

And God is the word. (John 1:1)

Thus, the word does not change, and has always been true.

There will always be hypocrites, but God will always be faithful.
