to be honest, what you bought was probably stolen. the supplier price of razor blades isn't that much cheaper than the retail price: at best they put a 50p mark up or so. we buy a four pack from gillette for about £4.50 per item and sell them for about £5. thats why most shops sell them for very similar prices. if they were less than about a fiver a box, the seller wouldn't be making enough to make it worth their while.

continue to buy on ebay....or have you tried places like Savers?
Also a cheaper version is to buy a supermarkets own brand of razor blades 99% match the mach razors as my hubby used to do that a lot, work just as well!
