It prevents burns. You can still tan with sun screen. There are plenty of different kinds in supermarkets.

NO! Sun block prevents burning. You will actually tan more evenly with at least spf 15 on. If you need to block the sun totally, you need a large number on the spf (my daughter found 75) and where light colored clothing. The sun Can burn through white shirts. (My daughter has a skin graft from a burn on her ankle. she has to wear sunblock to prevent further damage to the area for the rest of her life.)

sunblock doesn't prevent tanning. as far as i know the higher SPF the less of a chance you have of getting burnt... but it doesn't totally block the suns rays from tanning your skin. if you don't want any color i would probably stick with the clothing, maybe an umbrealla sitting outside or at the beach, or just staying in if you have a choice.

I wear SPF 30 when I go to the pool. I still get tan, it just takes a long time. I also wear a big hat & sunglasses to keep my face protected. If you don't want to get tan at all I recommend at least SPF 50. Maybe sit in a shaded area with a large umbrella, sunglasses, & an oversized hat! Good Luck!

yes they do, a sunblock SPF 50 and higher work better... not all clothes cover you from UV rays though, it has to be a very tight knit, very closed. Dermatologists say we should use sunscreens everyday, not only when we go to the beach or hiking or so.
