Police and medical personel recieve large amounts of training on EVOC (Emergency Vehicle Operations Course)
This training helps them make judgements on when is it reasonable to risk the lives of others to get to a location faster.
If you are intoxicated or otherwise impaired you should not be making choices that can cost others their lives.
However that being said, What would a reasonable person do in that situation? If they would drive impaired then you might have a defence if you hit another vehicle and kill someone. You however are still liable for damages to all injured parties.
Ambulances and cop cars when operated in a manner consistant with the training recieved are the safest, fastest, and best method

Laws are irrelevant in emergency or survival situations thats why there is martial law as a state back up
I wouldn't think twice about it if an ambulance was not an option and it was life threatening.
Emergency situations have a VERY Very fast way of sobering you up by the way. Hard to explain it to those who have never been in those circumstances though.

Being drunk and imparied and being able to drive in an emergency is a desicion that only the person can make at that time....very few people drunk can make logical decsions depending on the severity of the drunk.
Some people who we say are drunk cannot drive and therefore, call 911 is the best option and the safest.

NO!!! A pregnant woman is about to give birth. If I were too drunk to drive, I would essentially be sentencing ALL of us to death!
Yeah.. call 911. Flag someone down.
Basically, if you like to be drunk, then you can never be part of the soulution. NEVER. NEVER EVER. "Too much alcohol" makes you part of the problem.
Or, since you're thinking ahead like this... don't be drunk in public, and then you'll be prepared for all kinds of "quick thinking" emergencies.

You could drive them to hospital when you're drunk and have an accident, kill them, yourself and somebody else!
Laws are there for a reason. In that situation you should call an ambulance. They'd get there faster plus have trained Paramedics to take care of them on the way and stabilise their condition.

S you would drive a pregnant woman or injured person to hospital if you were wasted drunk. Do you not think by doing this and crashing (as you almost certainly would) that you would be making matters worse by doing this.
Have you never heard of an Ambulance

if you crashed in that situation, i bet there would be a hugh law suit coming your way.
If you have glaucoma and smoke marijuana to relieve the pressure of your eye fluid, then that should be a good reason to commit a crime, but driving under the influence is never a good idea

NO!!! Because it's wrong! There is always a way to take care of a problem without breaking the law.
Look at the illegal alien criminals that say they want a "better life" so they break the law. They should stay in Mexico and FIX MEXICO instead of breaking the law.

The law is law, punishment is only meted out to wrong doers. Don't do the crime if you can't do the time!
