Some cell phone batteries lose their charge holding capabilities when charged before they are run down. Is this the case with lithion-ion batteries.

I end up having my phone dead alot because I wait until the charge is low before recharging.

Thank-you

Yes! In fact it is better to recharge your battery rather than let it discharge all the way.

Lithium-ion (Li-Ion) batteries are quite different from ni-cads or Ni-MH batteries. One difference seems to be in life span Li-Ion batteries age whether you use them or not based on manufature date. All rechageable batteries seem to have a maximum amount of charging/discharging cycles. With Li-Ion, if you discharge to 50% and then recharge it is only considers a 1/2 recharge cycle.

I know there are different rechargeable batteries on market but one thing I learned years ago is that rechargeable batteries can be what I call programed. In other words, if you use about half of your battery charge and charge it full and keep doing this over and over finally it will only take half charge. I have found that by letting batteries run completely down or close to it as a normal cycle and than charging them completely up than they will charge well and will take care of the problem.
