I hvae a windows xp os but my bro broke the cd inside so its all cracked up. I need to reinstall windows do i buy the normal xp or upgrade?

I would try to find someone with a copy of XP (or better yet, windows 2000).
Giving microsoft more money just because your bro broke the CD doesn't make much sense.
Search online for instruction for disabling all of the stuff in winXP or 2000 that allows it to contact microsoft.

I would stay with the same xp...pro is okay but more expensive and doesn't offer much more unless you are controlling a network enviroment. Vista requires ALOT of your system
