Just say,.. "Mom i met a guy",.. and if she's interested of hearing more, then tell her like you know him from school or where ever, but always tell the truth.
If shes totally against you dating,.. well at least she knows about you meeting him anyways, and you could always suggest to her that you "go out as a group".
but " I met a guy" is always a good ice breaker.

I'm guessing from your shadow picture you are a guy and that's why this is a dilemma for you.
As a mother of a teen son, I would hope my son would feel he could be direct with me should this ever happen. Better to know than to wonder. Of course weather dating a guy or a gal, safe sex is the first thing I would discuss and hope you are practicing it yourself.
Sex is fun, but not worth endangering your life!
Talk to her as soon as you can, you know, Mothers can sense things, she is probably imaging something far worse that this if you are acting like you have a big dark secret around her!
