While watching "The Full Monty", I was perplexed by the scene in which one character wraps plastic wrap around his belly, then eats a candy bar. Another character had convinced him he could lose weight by doing so. Is that actually somehow effective, and if so, how? It sounds like a ridiculous myth circulated by people with a deep-seated phobia of exercise.
My friend was swearing on her grandmother's grave it is a well-known "quick fix" for cellulite. I think it's urban legend at best. I have $5 riding on this, so please list sources if you have them.

People will pay a good chunk of money to go to spas and have themselves wrapped up. Crazy, I know.

However, this is only a temporary answer to losing weight. All you've accomplished is to sweat and loose water weight. As soon as you have a drink, you'll gain all that back.

I found the book to be very informative and easy to read.

I've lost 17 pounds in 12 days, I'm just concerned that I'm losing too much weight, too quickly. I will admit I haven't followed the guide exactly. I'm not sticking perfectly to the listed foods and meal plans (but mostly) and doing very little exercise, but the weight keeps flying off.

It clearly works and if I'd followed it exactly I think it would scare the living daylights out of me because of the amount that I'd lose. So thanks again for the information. I've never purchased anything like this before because they are usually full of trash, but 3WD has been a pleasant surprise.

No, it's a fallacy. And actually to the contrary, wrapping yourself in plastic can make you very, very sick. It clogs pores and sweatglands and can cause toxins to back up into your body. Wrapping yourself in plastic is a bad idea!
