Science makes theists look stupid. And it also threatens their business, which is religion. A very profitable one indeed.

Wow someone has a persecution complex. Listen...."Real Thinkers"? Does that sound a bit arrogant to you? As if believers in God aren't real thinkers? I can't speak for the "church" hundreds of years ago or even today. I'm no more responsible for what they did to scientists then what England did to the native americans. If your trying to make it appear that you are some sort of minority and persecuted then I'm not buying it.
If your trying to say that scientists in the past are the same as scientists today...I'm not buying it.
So easy to say I'm saved, but you can't do it? If it's sooooooooooo easy to be saved then why aren't so many atheists saved?
You know, it's so easy to be thankful. Even a child who recieved a quarter from the tooth fairy, whether it's true or not, manifests GRATITUDE naturally. Have you lost your ability to be grateful your alive? Whether God is alive or not....are you less wise than a child? You aren't scientifically minded, just a skeptic. Doesn't take a mind or the ability to be a "real thinker" to be a skeptic.....just a doubting heart that keeps you safely on the fence post and mocking God.
Scientists were in search of truth in the past....scientists now don't even use real science to perpetuate their "faith".

i really don't get people who are against science who here has never taken a pain killer of a sort? where do you people think that came from? science does save but also costs life's too. some people don't like it when a theory comes up about religion not being what it's made out to be i.e evolution it's scars people the thought of evolving from a primate isn't that appealing is it? and it cancels out the bible then doesn't it it's always been the case people will only believe what they want even when it matters most.

A lot of old discoveries also went against the idea of a status quo, like the Earth revolving around the sun instead of vice versa. Many people who are against something are against it for different reasons, not always religion.
In America, not everyone against gay marriage is against it because of religion. I know several "logical" atheists who believe that sex should just be for procreation and that homosexual sex isn't right and several devout people that find love to be love. And I don't think you have undeniable proof that any god or divine figure hasn't created the Earth or how science works, even though we don't have the proof that one yet exsists.
What you should be complaining about is the power of stupid people in large numbers.

You should be a Sciencetian.
Maybe I am crazy, but the Christians that I know embrace science just as much as I do. I am amazed at how much can be done now to save lives and to build for our childrens futures. I think science IS a gift from God. I think God gave us the creative minds to realize all of these things.
I think there are some scientists out there who are in it just for the sake of discovering things (and who make up stuff) just like any other profession.

What you are saying is known as stereotyping. We do not ALL believe the same way about science. Get your facts straight next time. Don't lump one or two of the religious fanatics into one group called Christians.(or whatever group you want to call them)
There are exceptions and extremes to everything.

YES! I agree. here's a excerpt from a new book.
Billions of people share the belief that the creator of the universe wrote (or dictated) one of the many holy books. Unfortunately, there are many books that claim divine authorship, and they make incompatible claims to divine authorship; and they make incompatible claims as to how we MUST live. Competing religious doctrines have shattered our world into separate moral communities, and these divisions have become a continual course of human conflict.
In response, many sensible people advocate something called ‘religious tolerance’. While religious tolerance is surely better than religious war, tolerance is not without its problems. Out fear of provoking religious hatred has rendered us unwilling to criticize ideas that are maladaptive. It has obliged us to lie to ourselves—repeatedly and at the highest levels of discourse—about the compatibility of religion and scientific rationality. Our competing religious certainties are impeding the emergence of a viable global civilization. Religious faith—faith that there is a God who cares what His name is called, faith that Jesus is coming back to earth—is on the wrong side of an increasing war of ideas—“Letter to a Christian Nation” by Sam Harris

Christianity is all about admitting that you are a sinner so that you can stop being deluded into thinking that you must conform (OR ELSE) and you start living so that YOU can be saved.
