My eleven year old son recently confided in me that some of his friends are smoking pot. One boy takes it to school with him, and another boys mom actually gives them the pot. Should I tell the police or the school or should I just leave it alone? I just feel like I might lose my sons trust in me......

YOU CAN REPORT THIS WITHOUT GIVING YOUR NAME! IF YOUR SON IS NOT SMOKING POT YET, HE WILL BE IF HE CONTINUES TO HANG AROUND THIS GROUP OF FRIENDS. NO MATTER WHAT, YOU ARE THE ADULT HERE AND IT IS YOUR RESPONSIBILITY TO PROTECT YOUR SON AS WELL AS ANY OTHER CHILD THAT COULD BE IN HARMS WAY. IF THIS ONE PARENT IS GIVING HER SON DRUGS....WHAT ELSE IS SHE GIVING THE LITTLE BOYS IN YOUR COMMUNITY? REPORT THIS ASAP!!!!!!! OUR CHILDREN ARE ABUSED EVERY DAY ALL OVER THIS COUNTRY! IF EVERYONE TURNS THEIR HEADS, WHAT IS THAT TEACHING THEM? YOUR SON CAME TO YOU FOR HELP WETHER YOU OR HE REALIZES IT OR NOT! PLEASE DO THE RIGHT THING! YOUR SON IS ONLY 11 YEARS OLD! HE IS A CHILD WHO NEEDS AND DESERVES PROTECTION! IF YOU DON'T PROTECT HIM, WHO WILL????????

Hello,if Know you care about your son &who he hangs around with so first all I would tell him he needs too find some new friends , the last thing I would worry about is losing his trust; you need too talk with him & tell him how wrong it is what the friend is doing & the mother of the friend is doing & tell him upfront that you have no choice but tell the police & school also tell him that he is not with the friends that brings it's to school all day & night long that it might be giving it too smaller kids explain too him that it's against the law be honest with him; you need too also tell him that when you call the police on the boy's mom that is giving it to her son that she will more than likely go to jai. Question Please take no offense are you sure that your son is not doing it also ?? Their parents need too be told also . By not saying nothing you are saying it's okay that they are doing it so yes you need too say something okay .!! Be upfront & honet with you son .

Take Care Good Luck & Best Wishes

May GOD Bless You & Yours

Explain to your son that you are proud of him for telling you and that he can trust you do tell you stuff in the in the future, but also explain to him that what these other kids are doing is very wrong and illegal. If knows that he won't be found out for "tatteling" then he should be okay with it. If it will truly upset him then ask him how he wants to deal with the situation.

What???? Are you crazy??? It is your responsibility as a parent to protect your child and any other child whom might come in harms way!!! You should most defiantly report it....
If a child was taking a gun to school and showing it to your son would you not want to report it??? Drugs of any kind are both illegal and dangerous. It is your job as a parent and an adult to protect!!
Keep in mind that in most schools, teachers, counselors, and staff have taken pledges and oaths to protect the confidentiality of each and every student. No will will know that you or your child were involved in the reporting.

I think you should honestly just keep your mouth shut because yeah that is true because you might lose your sons trust in you........he told you because he probably thought that "hey i can tell my mother and she won't say anything"!!!!!!!!!!!!! So I say just stay quiet and don't say anything and your son will trust you. But if something happens with him then thats when you go and tell the police whats going on........................ hope this advise works for you.................Good Luck !!!!!

i think that you should explain to tour son that although he can trust you he has left you no choice but to tell the school , i would let them deal with it , these kids are only eleven i would hate to think what drugs they would be on by the time they get to 13 you must tell .

Hmmm....son's trust...son's health and well being. Which one to choose? Parent up!!! Report the parents who give the child pot to child services, tell the principle, and anyone else who will listen. Your son told you because he knows its wrong...so act like it is wrong and do something about it.

Protect the children!!!

well, you can try and call the school without anyone knowing you are calling and ask them to do a drug search in the school. they might want to know who you are but that's up to you if you want to say who you are. but hope to god, that when they do the search, your son has none in his locker! i would not let this go. they may not be your children, but we should always look out for all children! if you sit on this, where will these kids be 5 to 10 years from now.Help them!!!

Be a parent and report it to the school authorities, and let the police know that an adult is giving it to a minor, We as parents are put on earth to guide our children, Not be their friend.
