Maestro is affiliated with Mastercard. Virtually every store and restaurant in the United States takes Mastercard, as does almost every ATM (provided you have a four-digit PIN number). You will have no problem whatsoever.

maestro is usually affiliated with Mastercard... which is pretty much accepted everywhere in the US... but they might or might not work @ stores... you'll probably have to withdraw $$ from an ATM machine... and that will kill you... for every transaction, the ATM will have a surcharge of @ the very least... $1, and maestro/cirrus/MC/visa usually charges 1% for foreign exchange...
in my opinion... bring Traveller Checks... its for efficent... from my experience... the best ones would be American Express

You won't be able to use a debit card so take a credit card for transactions in restaurants and shops etc. Your bank will charge you to take money out using a credit card from an ATM, so get some dollars before you go!

as long as its a visa or mastercard it'll work. Anything else probably won't or be accepted.
