Yes this is true and man I have had a few times when I wish it wasn't. WORST thing ever was one time I really had to go #2 and I went into the bathroom right after this other lady so she'd be in the stall already by the time I got in there. So I go to my stall and I try to be SOOO quiet...and she starts making the WORST noises over in her stall, complete with heavy breathing! I tried so hard not to but it was after a night of drinking and...I won't get into details but there we both were just goin nuts on the toilets and I was mortified. That was the first time I'd had to do that like that in a public restroom. Ugh. I just want to forget about it, haha.

I confess. I was one of those women. If I had to poop, I'd have my sister mess w/ the hand dryer till I finished. If at work and I had to do the #2 (which is even more embarrassing) I'd hold it and wait till I got home. For me it was embarrassing to have someone hear me let out a fart or (gasp!) take a crap. Now I did say, I WAS one of those women. After I got diagnosed w/ Crohns disease, I got over the whole embarrassment thing. W/ this disease your sick all the time and always in the restroom. So b/c I didnt want to stay in the house all the time just b/c I had to take a crap, I got over it. I mean come on ,everybody does the #2. Granted some just do it worse than others(guilty, lol). Do you want to smell someone else's crap? No. I know alot of women who wont talk about doing the #2, let alone want to do it around others. They'll act like they never do the #2. So I guess its a miracle for them ever time something falls out of their butt. Of course you dont want someone laughing at you when you let out a fart or gag once they smell it. But hey, crap is crap and it aint pretty or smell like roses either. Plus everyone laughs when you hear someone fart. It's just funny. Now if I have to use the #2 in a public restroom I'll tell whoever is in there that I'm gonna to do it. They'll give me weird looks or remarks. Do I care? No. I'll warn you up front, you can stay or if your smart, you'll get the hell out.

This is the difference between men and woman. We like to make sure there is no one around to hear us do our business. I never go #2 in public bathrooms. I have suffered cramps due to this but it's a better piece of mind knowing that I can sit on my clean toilet without worries of disease from dirty people. I know women that work with me who go #2 and have no problems with this. These are the same women who sit alone at lunch too. I'm not sure if this has anything to do with it. I know that after I'm finished doing the #2, I like to take a shower and make sure I'm totally clean. This is another reason I never use public restrooms for this purpose. Thank you and have a great day.

I actually know a few men who will do the same thing, for the record.
Personally, I do it out of courtesy to the other users of the restroom. It's not nice to expose them to it.
Also, considering that in any other situation, I would be in the bathroom alone, I consider this a private thing.
Yes, there are many things that we humans all do...fart, have sex, etc. But we try to avoid doing that in front of other people, too. Some things are best left private.

Its a personal function happening in a public place. The more personal you keep it the less embarrassed one feels.I speak this from experience and am 1 of those women who would turn blue in the face and wait lol.
But I'm learning differently as I do have a 3 yr old daughter now and when I have to go to the bathroom in public places she has to go into the stall with me.And I assure you having a 3 yr old in the stall with you asking you loud as day "Mommy are you making a poop mom? Cause it's kinda stinky" is fundamentally the most embarrassing thing in the whole world....
Hence why some of us would rather keep a private and personal function private and personal especially when in public...
M.G
P.S
speaking to my mother on this she says her solution is to keep flushing through the sound. And she always selects the last stall in case it stinks...lol

I wait until nobody is there. It goes back to highschool, when the girls at the mirrors would laugh and make faces at each other when anyone stunk up the stall. No cool girl ever made a sound or a stink when the other girls were in the bathroom. I guess old hangups die hard.

I wait. I just can't do it. I feel embarassed. Some women can do it but i can't. My mother told me "thats what its there for, if you have to go, go". But i cannot do it. I can't do it in a friends house either.
for me, its because no one is around at home to hear what i'm doing in the restroom, and in a public restroom EVERYONE hears whats going on. Constipation, diareaha. ect.

I can't stand to be doing my business with others in the bathroom, or even in close proximity to the bathroom. Especially if it involves Number 2! I think there's a degree of etiquette involved concerning women.

I read where farm workers the women hold it rather than go out in the fields in front of others. The men have no such problems.
They won't do either and end up with infections and stuff.
Glad I don't have to work in the fields I can't hold it. Especially if they make me laugh.

it's a fear and shame issue. woman have certain standards to live up to in our society that are basically nuts. we all just need to learn to be more comfortable with our bodies. we are animals afterall. i seriously doubt that our cave dwelling ancestors worried about such silliness. my females friends usually hold it until no one is about OR they flush repeatedly to cover the smell and noise.
i'm not sure what the solution is or if this is such a great societal problem. but, it wouldn't hurt if we all just loosened up a bit. hey, that doesn't mean we should all start farting our asses off in public. it means just not being so hard on ourselves for having normal body fuctions.
