Great question. My grandmother who is 87 now was married off at 14 to a 27 year old man. That was normal back then and they had a good life together.

Today that is an unforgivable crime.

Also having a 17 son has caused me to research age of consent laws. You would be surprised to learn that in some states it is illegal for a person 18 to have sex with a person who is 16. While in some states a person who is up to 30 can have sex with anyone 15 and over.

My personal belief is old enough to bleed, old enough to breed.

In response to Me!:

I don't know about making it legal whenever puberty strikes. Alot of girls are hitting puberty at 9 years old now. That's when some are starting to get their periods these days. I know I wasn't ready when I hit puberty at 11. I had the equipment to make a baby, but I mentally wasn't ready by any means.

Maybe I misunderstood what you were trying to say.

I think the legal age should be 18 for the courts sake only. That's when they're out of the cradle house. The parents can no longer have a say on things. That's when they're tried as an adult for most things. That's when you can buy a house and get married legally. Kids will be kids and still sneak around. But for legal matters I think it's best if it's 18 and older.

Geez Low Down, I really don't know. I'm 43 and I can't even imagine myself with anyone younger then their 20's. I guess the basic concern would be emotional well being of the younger person. With that in mind I will say at least 18 or 20 years old before I would consider it "right" for anyone. Teens are still emotionally developing before that in this day and age. !00 years ago the answer may have been 14. Today we keep children children longer because we have more information to teach them then ever before. In keeping them children we also temper their emotional development by not burdening them with responsibilities and adult choices. I believe a 16 yro having sex with an adult would over burden the normal 16 yro's emotional well being and taint their emotions and how the relate when they are older. So there you go. No young'ens for any adult. It would dent them emotionally and tilt their view of personal relationships years later.

and you thought I would just give you a number...lol

Biologically the answer is puberty. In medieval times it was not unheard of for a girl to wed soon after her first cycle, especially if it was an arranged marriage.

Emotionally there is no age when an adult should date a minor. When you have one partner more mature than the other, it affects them and influences they way they grow up. For that reason there should be a dating range.

Such as below 18 you can only date people a year above or below you. As you get older the range will increase so that a 70 year old can date a 50 year old if they were so inclined.

No, it extremely is now no longer criminal. The age of consent in California is eighteen. in the event that they're 13 and 14 that's a misdemeanor. i'm now no longer sure what you mean by skill of "what are the effect if no costs are pressed." maximum possibly if no charges are pressed then there are no outcomes, as properly an undesirable teenager being pregnant in maximum situations. Oral intercourse isn't coated in this regulation, although 13 and 14 are too youthful to be having intercourse of any type, oral or in the different case.

In an ideal world, everyone would enter puberty with enough sex education to know all the risks consequences. Anyone old enough to know that is old enough to decide whom to partner with. A good or a bad relationship does not depend on age.

I'd say, hypothetically, whenever puberty strikes an individual, that would be appropriate, because puberty indicates sexual readiness.
