NO, my dear , I think your pastor may have said that God inspired
the designer or guided the workers etc. , using it as a metaphor
rather than as a literal statement.
Who DID make the statue , was the nation of France as a gift
to commemorate the 100 th anniversary of the founding of the
United States.

The Statue of Liberty is a sculpture of a French nobleman's daughter, Liberty, which was gifted to the United States of America. It has no religious signifigance at all, just historical.

I agree with the first four that answered. And yes it was a gift to the US from the French. America was a symbol of freedom to the world, and so then much of the world was pulling for this country to make it. On the statue is written, "Give me your tired, your poor, your humble masses yearning to be free..." But it does have to do with religion. The main reason that people originally fled to this country, was for freedom of religion, because the king of England was forcing his religion on them. It was illegal to worship in any way that the church of England disagreed with. But Jesus NEVER wanted all confusion that the multitude of denominations has brought. All these different religions is Satan's doing. Jesus only died for the Church he bought with his blood.
