What does it mean to be a born again Christian? The classic passage from the Bible that answers this question is John 3:1-21. The Lord Jesus Christ is talking to Nicodemus, a prominent Pharisee and member of the Sanhedrin (a ruler of the Jews). Nicodemus had come to Jesus at night. Nicodemus had questions to ask Jesus.
As Jesus talked with Nicodemus, He said "...Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God." Nicodemus said to Him, "How can a man be born when he is old? Can he enter a second time into his mother's womb and be born?" Jesus answered, "Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God. That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. Do not marvel that I said to you, You must be born again...." (John 3:3-7).
The phrase "born again" literally means "born from above." Nicodemus had a real need. He needed a change of his heart--a spiritual transformation. New birth, being born again, is an act of God whereby eternal life is imparted to the person who believes (2 Corinthians 5:17; Titus 3:5; 1 Peter 1:3; 1 John 2:29; 3:9; 4:7; 5:1-4, 18). John 1:12,13 indicates that "born again" also carries the idea "to become children of God" through trust in the name of Jesus Christ.
The question logically comes, "Why does a person need to be born again?" The Apostle Paul in Ephesians 2:1 says, "And you He made alive, who were dead in trespasses and sins..." To the Romans in Romans 3:23, the Apostle wrote, "For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God." So, a person needs to be born again in order to have their sins forgiven and have a relationship with God.
How does that come to be? Ephesians 2:8,9 states, "For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works lest any man should boast." When one is "saved," he/she has been born again, spiritually renewed, and is now a child of God by right of new birth. Trusting in Jesus Christ, the One who paid the penalty of sin when He died on the cross, is what it means to be "born again" spiritually. "Therefore, if any man be in Christ, he is a new creation..." (2 Corinthians 5:17a).
If you have never trusted in the Lord Jesus Christ as your Savior, will you consider the prompting of the Holy Spirit as He speaks to your heart? You need to be born again. Will you pray the prayer of repentance and become a new creation in Christ, today? "But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe on His name: who were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God" (John 1:12-13).
If you want to accept Jesus Christ as your Savior and be born again, here is a sample prayer. Remember, saying this prayer or any other prayer will not save you. It is only trusting in Christ that can save you from sin. This prayer is simply a way to express to God your faith in Him and thank Him for providing for your salvation. "God, I know that I have sinned against you and am deserving of punishment. But Jesus Christ took the punishment that I deserve so that through faith in Him I could be forgiven. I place my trust in You for salvation. Thank You for Your wonderful grace and forgiveness - the gift of eternal life! Amen!

Choose your own path, A Path which gives you peace of mind and happiness.
My father atheist and my mother is a born again christian.
I choose Buddhism for myself, Mahayana Buddhist to be exact. We however to not try to convert others to become Buddhist. People have their own free will to choose the Path which best suites them.
As long as the path that you choose brings you a calm, stable peace of mind, a good attitude toward people in life, helps you to accomplish your goals in life, and causes No Harm in thought, word or deed to another - that is all that is important.
Buddhism was the choice for me, especially because it teaches to place No judgment upon another person, or another's religion.
Buddhism teaches it followers to practice Patience, Forgiveness, Acceptance, and Tolerance toward all people, as well as the principle of No Harm toward any living thing. With Note: "There has 'never' been a war in the name of Buddhism."
**"But I am not saying that Buddhism is the best religion or philosophy of life for all !!**"
Simply find a faith, a religion, or a philosophy of life, a Path that best suites you.
And do not allow other religions to try and force their beliefs down your throat. Guilt and Fear are unwholesome, unproductive mental factors, and some, religions make a strong attempt to use guilt OR fear to try and convert other to their religion.
You have free will, and that should always be respected by all people, whether they are part of a certain religion or not.
Take Care of yourself.
With Metta (Lovingkindess and friendliness).

To WHAT? : Muslim men can marry Christian women and they are never expected to convert.
To answer this question: In Islam, children of a mixed family like yours should be raised as Muslim. It seems your parents left the decision of religion up to you, and I respect that (mine did the same). Unfortunately, that has also led to confusion for you and a bit of an identity crisis. Talk to your parents, visit churches and mosques, do research. BUT, do not feel obligated to choose either just so you have a title. My husband is Muslim and I don't call myself a Christian or a Muslim because I hold beliefs of both religions. We will raise our future children as Muslims because that is something we discussed before marriage and agreed upon.
Best wishes on your spiritual journey.

Be yourself.
I would advocate agnosticism (literally "not knowing") until you feel more sure. It's not a choice, its a suspension of choice.
I would hope that you learn enough to become an atheist but you might pick either your mother's or father's faith or you might find a new one (Buddhism anyone?)
The one thing you shouldn't do is go through any commitment ceremony for either of the religions (like Christian confirmation) until you are an adult. This is a step that you should clearly make (if you want to make it) after you can decide for yourself.

Look in your heart and think about what you believe and which community you want to belong to. There is no right or wrong, all religions believe in trying to live a good life, helping others, having a relationship with God (or Allah), and spreading love in the world. You don't have to be anything and you don't have to decide right away. Just learn all you can and follow your heart.

I think that you should go to a Muslim temples ( sorry I do not know what Muslims call their church), and a Chrsitian church and see what message to you enjoy more, if you enjoy them both then say that you are a religious person and chose to follow the teachings of both religions.

General belief amongst muslims, if your father is muslim, so are the children. I disagee...I chose what I wanted after researching and experiencing various types of religion. Best of luck.
