The trains on the other side of the tracks have twice as many cars, are practically empty, and come half as often. So why can't they just put more cars on this side during rush hour so that the trains aren't so freaking packed?

The people that take up two seats and get annoyed when others try to sit.
People that rujn for the subway and then stop as soon as they get on not caring about the people behind them that are also running. Geez, just because you got on, doesn't mean that others are not trying to do the same thing.
