I'm sorry, I don't agree. They do teach us about faith but I can tell you about miracles I've had in my own life. I've had 4 knee surgeries and was in constant, all the time, everyday pain up until I was prayed for in a Bible study about 2 years ago. I used to know it it was raining just by the pain in my knees, I'd walk out in the cold and it would be like sharp knives driven into my knees. You can try all you want to say it was in my head, but I don't believe it. I've had to have faith in God to provide when I've been out of work and He has. Someone paid for my school books last month when I didn't have a job. I do believe in miracles and they do happen TODAY.

I'm reading a book that you might like. It is called, "Bloodline of the Holy Grail, The Hidden Lineage of Jesus Revealed." It goes into account over the "miracles" and simply gives an explanation of what really happened.
For example, changing the water into wine. First, you have to know the background Jesus was born into. First, there was no such thing as Christianity, so as we all know, Jesus was a Jew. At that time, Rome was the enemy of the Jewish people. However, the Jewish people were divided amongst themselves. Jesus knew this and wanted everyone to unify. To the Jewish people, the Gentiles were unclean people and at Communions, they were not allowed to drink wine while the higher people (the fully united celibates) were able to. This rule also applied to married men, novices and lay Jews.
The author of the book claims that this wedding was actually Jesus's own wedding to Mary Magdalene. Anyways, Jesus's mother instructed the servants to abide by what Jesus told them to. People were surprised about this, because everyone drunk the wine even though it was against the customs of that time.
Jesus believed in unifying his people and this was to allow everyone to have access to God. Orthodox Jews didn't want this at all and many of the miracles that Jesus performed were simply outrageous acts to the Orthodox Jews.
So did the miracles happen? Yes, they did but they were ordinary events. However, let people believe what they want to. If they want to believe that the miracles were miracles, who am I to stop them? It doesn't matter if they were or not. I simply believe that Jesus was an amazing man with a good goal. To allow everyone access to God.

First of all, miracles were performed throughout the Bible. Angelic protection from or actually destroying enemy forces; resurrection of children, fires consuming sacrifices practically sitting in water. And those are only some of the ones that happened in the OLD Testament.

Why the miracles? Jesus' miracles and those of those of others were meant to provide to provide proof to us/to build faith in the coming greater miracle... the day when at God's command, Jesus would raise ALL those in the memorial tombs and ultimately return humans to the perfect state God intended them to be in.

No. A divine revelation founded on the fulfillment of prophecy-the bible either is or it isn't. Miracles, prophecy and the supernatural are necessary to "prove" the alleged divinity of Christ so they aren't an issue that Christians can conveniently skirt around if they don't find them credible from an intellectual viewpoint. Without the supernatural Christ is just a man like any other.

I too believe in miracles. I suffered in agony 24/7 for over 3 months. Overnight it was taken from me. Praise God!

I disagree; if they didn't happen, then what do you have faith in? That God will help you? But if miracles didn't happen, then God never helped anyone (a miracle, by definition, is God intervening in human affairs).

Your statement makes no sense to me.

Speaking as a religious jew I will tell you that we are told:

If you believe all the stories and miracles in the bible verbatem, you are a fool.

However if you believe none of them, you are a fool as well.

Miracles did happen, because the Bible is true.
