I used a regular rice cripies recipe with generic cocoa krispies cereal. They turned out so hard and break when I try to cut them with a knife. I'm used to much chewier results... any thoughts?

try margarine instead of butter, i always use margarine instead of butter and they are always chewy not hard, i don't think it has anything to do with the generic krispies.

Crumble them up the best you can and sprinkle them on ice cream....or blend them in ice cream for a cocoa krispy blizzard.

Or, smoke something illegal and then won't care how hard they are.

i do no longer think of so.. yet Snap, Crackle and dad are stressful while they start speaking to you from the ineffective. Yeah, cereal dies once you pour milk in it. MURDERERS!!!! i'm hoping you turn yourselves in... You MURDERERS!!! Oh, wait. I kill them, too. See ya, i'm gonna make a telephone call to 911.

use more marshmallow and less cereal, or just less cereal and make sure not to skimp on the butter. also depends on how tight you are packing them into the pan. make sure to keep them covered with plastic wrap after they've cooled also to keep any air from making them stale.

rice krispies suck, I suggest you try a different cereal like cinnamon toast crunch or fruity pebbles or smacks, much better!

Soak them into tepid milk to get them softer.

Bird food...dog food...crispy treats just can't be substituted...tryed it myself with same results. Dog loved them, though.
