I am sure it can...I know when you are on the down swing it can lead you to suicide. I haven't attempted murder in the manic state or hypomanic state, I will admit, I have threatened, and I have most definitely thought about it. I am bi-polar with an extreme psychotic behaviors, and I have a severe problem with anger management which they haven't found a way to control yet, as classes and meds don't seem to work for me. I sometimes will strike out violently without thinking, but more often than not, I actually have to be provoked, it's just that when I am provoked, it doesn't have to be something big, it can just be that someone flipped me off. So, I'm sure that it can eventually lead someone to murder, but I am perfectly aware of right and wrong, so if one day in the future I actually were to hurt someone seriously (I won't actually ever commit murder) I wouuld stand up and take my consequences instead of blaming my disorder.

Yes, Bipolar disorder could drive someone to murder, during the manic phase. As people continue to stay manic, they can become delusional and get pyschosis. When Bipolar people are psychotic, they do not see the world right and can get paranoid, scared, angry, hostile, etc. These fears could lead someone to murder.

However, if a Bipolar person stays on their meds and works with their psychiatrist, pychosis should not occur.

As the mother fo a child with bipolordisorder it depends on if they are prone to be depressed or manic. My son is on the manic side and I do believe that he could comit murder if he wanted to. One the other side my husband is also bipolor and tends to the depressed side and I dont believe he could comit murder. But he could harm himself. Keep the person on medication and seeing a therapist and that will help a lot.

Yes, but it may not be intentional.
My neighbor's son (who had bi-polar)lived with his fiance. In December, they were both found dead in the apartment with stab wounds. The police ruled it as a murder/suicide. (Of course, they never once mentioned that he had bi-polar) It took the police a long time to declare it as such, because neither of the two had a history of domestic violence. The man's family, and our neighbors have been thinking he attempted suicide, and his fiance tried to stop him, and she was killed in the struggle.
