Many "comforters" have come before and after Jesus. It has been promised that there will always be a sat guru (true guru) sent by the Divine to gather all souls who are ready to return home.
The other comforter Jesus was speaking about was indeed the spirit of himself which would be available to his disciples. Jesus was their Master and would always be available to them by seeking him within. This same principle holds true for all sat gurus who are delivered to bring God's message to their followers.

The Comforter is the Holy Spirit.
God's Spirit has always existed (see Genesis 1:2), but not until Pentacost did His Spirit dwell within us. In the Old Testament, you will see examples of the Holy Spirit coming upon someone for a specific time and purpose (Judges 14:6, for example), but it was not permanent.
The Holy Spirit does speak to us, although not in an audible voice. See Romans 8:16, Hebrews 10:15, and 1 John 5:6 for some examples. The verse you gave, John 15:26, actually answers the question; the "Spirit of truth" (Holy Spirit) is the Comforter.
The fulfillment of Jesus' promise is seen in Acts 2.

Another comforter does not necessarily mean new.
Yes, the Bible affirms that the Holy Spirit existed even in the Old Testament. King David said, "Take not thy Hold Spirit from me". The actual quote is in Psalms 51:11 (King James Version).
Jesus was the first comforter, but the Holy Spirit was in Him and it was promised in Joel 2:28-29 (New King James Version) that the Spirit of God (the Holy Spirit) was promised to all. Jesus merely restated that.

The another comforter is the Holy Spirit. After Jesus departed after the resurrection to sit at the right hand of the Father to intercede for his saints, He sent his disciples the Holy Spirit to lead them into all truth and establish the one true church of Jesus Christ on this earth. The Holy Spirit abides in the heart of all true Christians and leads them into righteousness and will never leave nor forsake them (even after earthly death).
The Holy Spirit has always existed. The Holy Spirit was never created but is also part of the trinity of God. God the Father, Son, and Holy Sprit. All God. All the time and never created but eternally existant. The Father is God. The Son (Jesus) is God. The Holy Spirit (comforter) is God.
The Holy Spirit was not known to his disciples. That is why they couldn't understand Jesus' parables. Jesus' parables were meant to relate the spritual kingdom by using earthly examples like sheep and coins and wheat, etc.
When a sinner repents of his/her sins and trust Jesus to save them, they are forgiven by God. If God sees that you truly are repentant, and you ask God to receive the Holy Spirit, He will gladly give you the Holy Spirt. This Holy Spirit will now abide in your heart and lead you into all truth and testify in your heart that Jesus is the way the truth and the life. Read John 14:6.
Good questions. Hope this helps. You seem to be searching for the Kingdom of God.

You were right when you said it is the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit is the "another Comforter", which would bring into the apostle's rememberance all of what Christ had taught them.
If you read in Acts 2, you will see where the Comforter came and spoke, through the 12 apostles, to all of the people gathered around, in a language they could understand, all of the glory of God the Father.

The holy spirit is the comforter. And when you go back and look at the Greek of John 15:26, the comforter "will testify concerning me" Not "of me" and if you argue about it being the genitive case and that's the standard translation, think about the word before it (transliterated "peri") which with the genitive case is concerning or about.
The Holy Spirit always existed, because the Holy Spirit is God. However, the Holy Spirit was specifically sent to the followers of Christ after Christ's departure back to Heaven to be with them and encourage/comfort them in their ministry to the world.

The word translated "Comforter" in that scripture is actually a compound Greek word that literally means "one called along side to help". It is all one word in the Greek, so the KJ translators tried to make it one word in the English. "Comforter" was the best word they could come up with for it.
The one who was already "along side helping" his disciples was Jesus. He was the first "comforter". The Holy Spirit would take up his place as "the one along side helping" when he returned to heaven.
John 15:26 tells you that the Comforter is the Holy Spirit. It says "When the Comforter comes - even the Spirit of Truth - he shall testify of me." So it saying that the Comforter is the Spirit.
Amoung the jobs of the Holy Spirit is to testify about Jesus. Testify means "to tell the truth" about something. John 16:7-13 explains the different truths the Holy Spirit will testify to men about.
"Nevertheless I tell you the truth; It is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send him unto you. And when he is come, he will reprove the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment: Of sin, because they believe not on me; Of righteousness, because I go to my Father, and ye see me no more; Of judgment, because the prince of this world is judged. I have yet many things to say unto you, but ye cannot bear them now. Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will show you things to come."
So the "other Comforter" is the Holy Spirit.
It would be impossible for that "Other Comforter" to be Muhammed, as in his teachings he denied each of the truths that Jesus said the Comforter would prove to the world.

Jesus was too plain to ask such a question...he told you in the same area of scripture that it is the Holy Ghost...who by the way was pesent with God also from the beginning....Genesis 1:2..
And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters....Also when Jesus was baptized The spirit of God descended upon Jesus in the form of a dove ....YES....The comforter is the Holy Ghost...John 14:26...But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.....See it is plain...God bless

It is the Holy Spirit, the Spirit that comes to comfort when the person in question is not there physically. In a human sense, a person leaves their spirit with you when they go away so you know they are still there, and still know their love.
Trust me, Muhammad is not a comforter.
