Spartan and Embry-Riddle are the largest out there, but there are some other colleges with small courses. I graduated from Spartan in 1985 with a degree in Avionics and Instruments, and I now head up Quality Assurance for two FAA certificated repair stations.

I am from Oklahoma. I am a licensed A&P mechanic. In my area there were two schools to choose from, Spartan and Tulsa Vo-Tech. I attended Vo-Tech because it was much, much less expensive. Most people that I work with that attended Spartan complain about the expense that lingered long after completion of Spartan. I know that both schools do offer Avionics training. From my experience and from talking with other techs, school was a prep for the FAA test more than it was actual job training. I would strongly suggest checking into your local Vocational tech school to see if they offer the course. If you are still in High School you can even get a head start attending VoTech and get credit towards qualification. Good Luck!!
