Nope, it can't be cured, no matter what people tell you. Some people will try to convince you that yoga and fiinding your inner self and all that will help you cure it, but it can not be cured. Meds can help you control it, and make you feel better about yourself and help you function a little more "normally," but you will always have bi-polar. The meds don't make it go away, and sometimes, they may not even help you, and you may have to try a lot of them before you even find any that help you in the tiniest way, but when you find the right cocktail of meds and the right dosages for you, that make you feel better and keep you on a more even keel, you don't really notice your ups and downs so much and they don't occur so often, and that's pretty much as close to being cured as you are ever going to get. Sorry.

they are currently working to prove a theory of a surgery that might cure bipolar disorder in the near future. they say that for the first few years, it will be costly, but highly effective.
im bipolar. ive been on meds since i was 9 1/2. (now 23) but after i had my baby girl tegan marlie, i havent had a manic or depressive bout!
my doctor says that IM NOT CURED, JUST STABLE. she said that when pregnant, the hormones and chemical balances shift in your body and brain, therefore "reorganizing" mitochondria. i havent had to take meds for almost four years now!
it doesnt work with everyone because we're all different, and especially sincer you're male, but talk to your doctor about hormone stabilizers.
good luck. and STAY ON YOUR MEDS!! whatever you do, stay on your meds, even if you dont feel like you need them. if you have to, call a friend or relative and ask them to "remind you" every day about meds.

I'm not positive, but a good friend of mine has a son that is bipolar, and he has good and bad day's.
He has gotten allot better in the last 2yrs. Due to the fact the medication they gave him was not right. In his particular case.
So I guess the answer is not likely, but it can be controlled with meds. Hope this is of some help? Take Care

Not cured, but it can be treated with medications to balance the brain chemicals. There is no cure, not for any brain chemistry disorders.

No Bi-polar disorder can only be treated with medication. Once you have it you have it for the rest of your life. The medicine is not that bad though. It is also better to be in therapy also

People have however been misdiagnosed.... please do not take an average opinion and think it is a life sentence. Todays crack judgement type doctors (or your average layman) needs more training than they get for such a sensitive diagnoses.
GO TO A REALLY GOOD SPECIALIST ! Please, Please, Please! Taking such condemnation lightly whether you or a loved one is concerned could mean missing out on great blessing. Seek advice of clergy, older mature friends and community clinics if you can not find help any other way. BUT do not believe the first second or even third diagnoses if you do not think the pattern fits.
