I have never snooped through my childs bedroom. What I do do is I go in there while she is right there and say time to clean up I'll help you and we both clean all her drawers, closet, under her bed out her backpack nothing is left untouched and cleand out. I have done this quite a few times while she was growing up and she has no problem with it I believe she tells me everything and she never knows when I will come to her room for clean time I also have helped her clean her desks and lockers at school so she is cool with it. I think she knows in the back of her head why I do it but she has nothing to hide so she doesn't care she appreciates the help and tells her friends "I don't have to always clean my room alone" I only do this a couple of times a year but she never knows when I will want to so I feel confident. Do I keep secrets from her, I don't tell her exactly what a lying scumbag her father is I let her find that out on her own, other than that, no secrets

honestly Im only 19 years old and Up until I was 17 my parents would look around in my room and they do the same to my brother. Now they dont like take up the floor boards or anything but looking for things in plain sight is perfectly fine. Its your house and they are your children you have a right to know what they are doing. at least you care about your children some parents dont bother to ever even go into their kids rooms and thats why we have so many pregnant 13 year olds and drug addicted kids. So go look and ask them about the things you find if theres something that concerns you. If they have nothing to hide they shouldnt mind. I never minded when my parents looked around because i knew they wouldnt find anything. Good Luck.

Of course I have. I found a naked picture of his little girlfriend. I almost had palpatations. I also found a "love" note that listed some of the things that she would like to do to him. That almost gave me a stroke. I did not tell my child. But I reserve the right to snoop as his caregiver and the person that pays the bills.

I didn't really snoop but when I would do laundry I would find letters in their pockets all the time and I couldn't help myself so I had to read them. It was usually little cute letters from girls and boys who wanted to go out with my daughters and son. When my son got older I found a girly magazine under his matress that was a little unnerving. You don't like to think about stuff like that. I didn't tell him that I found it. I also found a condom in his pants pocket and that shocked me.

First I kept no secrects, Second, yes he knew,I told him. Third I found Items that pertained to our trust and yes i expected it. If I suspect a mistrust and is given a good reason to suspect that. I will go through his room. Keep in mind it is your house. They earn that trust. With me it all had to do with love. I did'nt like doing it but it had to be done.

I always told my kids that if they cleaned their room, I wouldn't have to. So, I cleaned their rooms, went thru everything, found lots of stuff. They never had the right to complain because they were given a choice. My house, my rooms, my riles. They are adults now, and they clean their rooms.
